TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY LAWYER ELITE LOVE CRISPIN REA FOR 3RD DISTRICT AT-LARGE CITY COUNCIL!!!

Early in the race Kansas City Public School Board Vice Prez Crispin Rea is piling up an impressive list of endorsements.

To wit . . .

CHECK OUT THIS POWERFUL CREW OF KANSAS CITY LAWYERS SHOWING CRISPIN SOME LOVE THIS MORNING!!!

Kansas City Insiders should know that these are basically the top political lawyers in all of Kansas City. Herb Kohn in particular is responsible for Mayor Kay's reign.

For TKC, what's interesting here is that local lawyers ESPECIALLY TOP LEVEL POWER BROKER ATTORNEYS haven't ever really been involved or taken a role in 3rd District elections.

Now, here's the important part of the presser . . .

CIVIC COMMUNITY LEADERS ENDORSE CRISPIN REA FOR CITY COUNCIL

Herb Kohn, David Oliver, and Charles Renner back Rea in Third District At-Large City Council race

Today, three esteemed leaders of Kansas City’s civic community, Herb Kohn, Partner at Bryan Cave, David Oliver, Partner at Berkowitz Oliver, and Charles Renner, Partner at Husch Blackwell, endorsed Crispin Rea for the Third District At-Large City Council race, building more early support for the campaign after Rea announced his candidacy three weeks ago.

“Kansas City’s growth, prosperity, and bright future remain beset by our growing inequality and unceasing violent crime,” said Herb Kohn, a corporate and business attorney. “I proudly endorse Crispin with the confidence of knowing that he will seek out the ideas of our civic leaders and fight for a fairer, safer, and more unified city.”

Mr. Kohn has served several mayoral appointments and on numerous boards, including but not limited to, the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees for the Truman Presidential Museum and Library, as Trustee of the Richard and Annette Block Cancer Foundation, and as Chairman of the Blue Ribbon Task Force studying Kansas City’s

“Our dynamic city remains a center of entrepreneurial innovation; yet, we are divided along too many lines and by stark inequality,” said David Oliver, a trial attorney. “I endorse Crispin Rea because of his experience in and commitment to bridging our divisions so all can share in the opportunities and amenities our city can offer.”

Mr. Oliver is a Board Member of the Alliance for Childhood Education, ArtsKC—Regional Arts Council, and the Kansas City Repertory Theatre, to name only a few.

“Crispin understands the need for strategic partnerships and long-term planning for our city’s future,” said Charles Renner, a local real estate, development, and construction attorney. “Crispin has my support and endorsement because he has a proven record of building relationships with our city’s civic community and gaining valuable insight to execute a long-term plan for strategic growth and development.”

Mr. Renner serves on the Citizens Association and the South Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, is involved with the Mid-American Regional Council, and is the current President of Kansas City Consensus.

  1. I can only wonder if they also wear bow ties. TKC, you need to get a photog to work on that.

  2. Shouldn't this kid get a little more experience?

  3. Charles Renner, a local real estate, development, and construction attorney.

No special interests there nope not at all.

  4. Malleable - Easily controlled or influenced;

  5. What do they think of unsolicited bulk email?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yet another empty vessel that the endless line of favor-seekers at city hall can pour their dreams of grandeur into and be rewarded with millions of tax dollars.
And the same old names who have gotten KCMO to where it is endorsing more of the same.
From unaccreditated school district to city heading for bankruptcy.
Quite a legacy for such an inexperienced and unaccomplished kid.

  7. 11:16 AM Shut up Freedom, Inc. You had your turn. I don't care for Rea either but it looks like he will win his bid for Thrid District At-Large. There are many, many Hispanics in the Third District. They deserve to have someone in leadership that is Hispanic just like the Asians deserve to have somebody Asian on the City Council. Besides, does he have a serious contender... all menacing, hanger-on Black minister's aside? the answer is no. Hate to be the bearer of bad news but looks like he already won this thing. Now, he just needs to avoid the Freedom, Inc. losers and stay clear of Urban Scumbags and he'll be fine.

  8. 'Good to know who owns whom.

    ReplyDelete
  9. He already won? LOL anyway even he does win they are going to keep him on training wheels for quite a while.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Strange backing he is already bought and payed for.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Yes, 11:49, Hispanics are owed representation and so are Asians, and on and on, because we all know that none of us can be represented by anyone who isn't just like we think we are.
So let's load up the ballot like we're loading ar ark, two by two, fat, thin; tall, short; gay, straight; etc.
But who's going to represent the balck Jewish lesbian bicycle team?
We'll need to add a lot more seats!

  12. Lawyers supporting lawyers!!!
    Why I never!!!

You are happy to support someone whom you feel you can control. And a fresh out of law school graduate is eager to please the old veterans in town.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I've always liked him and I think he'll do a great job.

    ReplyDelete
  14. he'll listen to the civic elite. who are so disgusted by inequality.

    NEXT.

  15. Crispin's flirtation with BigLaw will soon end.

These lawyers are backing him out of default due to a lack of options this early in the race. When and if a lawyer with real credentials and experience practicing business law enters the race, Crispin will no longer have the support of the bar. Sorry, that's just the way it works. Lawyers prefer other lawyers over inexperienced law students.

I just hope Rea is being up front with these law firms about what the field may shape up to be.....because if he isn't giving "full disclosure" about the potential other candidates, it will seriously damage his reputation in the legal community. That's something that he'd regret long after this race is over.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Lets sit on our ass in judgment of someone making an effort while we laugh at the 3rd grade mentality of the cum-rape guy.

Can't wait for the next one.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Is it Rea's job to inform folks about every possible house of cards wannabe out there who can't make up their mind about running? "Big Law" will go with the person putting in the work w/ name rec. Not house of cards wannabes.

    ReplyDelete
  18. At the end of the day Crispy will has more experience in politics and city hall than all the other candidates combined times 2.

    ReplyDelete
  19. This "kid" already has more knowledge, experience and integrity, than 99% of the niggers that inhabit City Hall today.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Rea is the new puppet for the elite that made CK the Detroit of the Midwest.

    ReplyDelete
  21. What does the Polar Bear say about it ?

    ReplyDelete
  22. 2:22, looks like the endorsements hit an insecure spot. These public statements will be kinda hard to back away from. The question asked is who is in the race not who is day dreaming about it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. How is Crispin Rea, as a KC Councilman, going to solve economic inequality? By adopting policies that send more middle class taxpayers to Johnson County.

Methinks these lawyer 1%ers protest too much!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. If you're not in the race you're not in the race. Only an ametuer would whine about another candidate not informing the world about some potential nobody.

    ReplyDelete
  25. He's not your average law student. Dude had one foot in and one foot out since day one. He's got more experience than any other candidate, even those who have Tony has been gracious enough to give attention to.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 3:01 and 5:03, remember - politics and law are related but distinct worlds. Fast talk and shooting from the hip may work in one but less in the other.

Is your man just in for the sprint, or is he running the marathon?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Grifters, one and all. Nothing here.

    ReplyDelete
  28. 510, I don't have "a man" in the race, I'm just pointing out the obvious. I do know and like Crispin though. And I will say one thing I know about him is that he ran distance and cross country and maybe even in a national championship. You connect the dots with your question.

    ReplyDelete
  29. stupid and NO expierience, just like is daddy nigger barack Obama.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You all "listen" to one another, and think you are smarter for the experience?

    LMFAO

    ReplyDelete
  31. Fuck you asshole, we'll kick your fucking ass!

    ReplyDelete
  32. He's got my northland vote!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Not sure what weirdness 2:22 is talking about. But I like Crispin and he usually doesn't let things stand in his way so whatever 2:22 is talking about is not worrying in the least.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Hand picked and groomed political hanger on, carried water for Funk, led a car crash of a school district got into a shitty law school (on his merits yea right) again used political connections to get an internship now running to control tax dollars. This beaner needs to get a real job, actually produce something of value and bring new ideas not just use brown skin again to secure yet another tax payer subsidized job on his way to the mayors office.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Crispin Rea = failed KCMO School Board guy and Intern for Funkhouser (which he refers to as "city hall experience"). Failure times 2--do we really need another city council stooge? This guy has never had a real job and his profession is "law student." (he tries to divert people and claim he "works" in the prosecutor's office...he's a freaking intern again!) And glad to know he can make promises to developers...that makes me SO inclined to support him.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Haha, biglaw may "support" this lifelong intern, but would biglaw ever HIRE him? Ask for his law school transcript...does he make the grade or is he too busy trying to brown-nose? Is he in the top 10% of his class? Top 20%? Top half? At such a shitty law school, if he can't make the grade, should we trust him with public funds? Can he add? Crispin, instead of a pat on the head from biglaw monkeys, get a job, then maybe you'll be more than a roving intern.

    ReplyDelete
  37. 3:03 you demonstrate how little you know. Look at who has a job and who doesn't from previous law grad classes around the area. Anyone with any sense knows these things are earned through relationships and not gpas. Get a clue you pile of shit.

    ReplyDelete
  38. 2:55 its clear who you are working for and that you are lying out of insecurity. You'll always be a second rate wannabe political mover and shaker.

    ReplyDelete
  39. The great thing about the comments section here is that in campaigns the less mature, less experienced, and less disciplined campaign will unload all their criticisms and put the more mature, more experienced, more disciplined side on notice of what they'll use. The guys who know what they're doing take notes and hope the other side keeps it up. The big mouths who don't know what they're doing won't find the discipline to stop. Keep 'em coming sir.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Mr. Rea looks like he's put forward an articulate platform, got some good early support. Hats off, I say.

Who's this "House of Cards wannabe"?
