We like to keep it upbeat on Sunday so here's a rare bit of Kansas City good news for the Fire Department and keeping jobs in Kansas City . . .
@KCMO City Council did the right thing & preserved the jobs of our @MOAFSCME Local 500 Sisters & Brothers in @KCMOFireDept EMS Billing
Background on this story that our KICK-ASS BLOG COMMUNITY put on blast . . . Remember that AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS told us about this behind the scenes on this deal gone wrong.
Developing . . .
Every now and then someone in KCMO government forgets that the city, Jackson County, and KCPS are not there to seve the public, but to act as troughs of public money for contractors, consultants, and grifters, and an employment agency for unqualified family and friends.
ReplyDeleteBut they're probably new and make the mistake of trying to actually do what's right and look out for the public.
But very quickly, someone sets them straigt.
And this is a good example.
According to the text of the bill, it would have saved the city $800,000 per year to have a third party handle ambulance bills.
ReplyDeleteBut, I don't think that takes into account the full impact of lost jobs, and community impact due to the displaced employees. What I don't get is this, best as I can tell, money the fire dept collects via Billing doesn't go back to the fire dept. If the city wanted to provide real incentive to maximize collections, why not let kcfd keep some of that revenue in house?
ReplyDeleteGood for the employees, bad for the taxpayers. Not only would the City save money from the payroll-related expenses, but those collection companies significantly outperform public employees in collections.
ReplyDeleteDo they outperform? Can you prove this? It seems like a stretch.
DeleteI'm confused. I thought the KCFD had already outsourced most of their jobs to Price Chopper.
ReplyDeleteIt seems odd they would consider sending local jobs out of state.
ReplyDeleteAnd just what 9:23 that this city does that isn't odd?
ReplyDeleteI love me some Firemen!
ReplyDeleteWell we all know if it has to do with the KCFD if will be fucked up.
ReplyDeleteWhy was the Firefighters union so involved in representing those billing people? Isn't that billing group in a different union? Is L42 trying to nudge out the other union? How did L42 get involved? Who involved them?
ReplyDeleteUnions back each other dumb shit! It's called loyalty for all union members.
ReplyDelete5:03 Thats right ! Because it's a bad deal doesn't matter! Union first/
ReplyDeleteYou can see what the unions have done with so much manufacturing outsourced to other countries. Unions first means screw the taxpayors! You guys act like the these people are entitled to these jobs like it is some sort of subsidized jobs program.
ReplyDelete“The Company that was the recommended vendor had a security breach recently.
ReplyDeleteThe breach was asked about in the RFP process. Their answer attempted to
minimize the breach, indicating that only 3 agencies had been affected.
We now know that at least 27 agencies in 17 states had been affected.
So I think it’s pretty clear we do need to turn this down.”

Intermedix Breach
Thank you Local 42 for catching
this huge fuckup by Schulte
before he hired this company!!
Try to remove that log from your own eye first so that you might see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye.
ReplyDeleteWow, biblical reference on Sunday, aren't we swanky.
