Let's start the Kansas City morning with some bittersweet news regarding City Hall hiring practices and top ranking local government employees.
To wit . . .
WE'RE HAPPY TO REPORT THAT FORMER KANSAS CITY COMMUNICATIONS DUDE DANNY ROTERT HAS BEEN HIRED @ ENGINEERING COMPANY JUGGERNAUT BURNS & MCDONNELL!!!
Let's remember that OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY BROKE THIS STORY ABOUT MR. ROTERT'S DIPLOMA SNAFU before any other media outlet.
The sitch was silly and involved a silly college transcript beef . . . And just to show a bit of newsie/journalistic responsibility on this one . . . There was speculation that there might have been "more to this story" and that talk has now been put to rest with this upper level hire to a top company. Turns out HR @ City Hall is just that bad . . . Even though KCMO is willing to make accommodations for felons and "ban the box" thanks to political pressure . . .
NOW, most people realize . . .
Danny Rotert is an EXCEPTIONAL TALENT and he has long been one of EVERYBODY'S favorites in Kansas City's political scene.
A local insider offered a bit of insight on the Burns & Mac hire:
"Think about it. This was a smart move . . . Danny has worked for a few State Reps, a Congressman and the Mayor. He was on the market because of some kind of technicality but he certainly had the kind of knowledge and skill that a smart company would want to acquire . . ."

MAKING A GREAT HIRE LIKE DANNY ROTERT IS HOW BURNS & MAC STAYS WINNING WHILE CITY HALL LOSES ONE OF THEIR MOST PROLIFIC WORKERS!!!
Mr. Rotert was in the process of working to revamp the Mayor's and the city's website and make them much more useable . . . Now that process most certainly will take hit as Kansas City suffers a brain drain to much more savvy corporate interests. Natch.
