Group Joins Kansas City Police Department in Effort to Bring Animal Abuser to Justice

Kansas City, Mo. — Ella, a popular doe who was born at Elmwood Cemetery and made her home there, was shot and killed on August 4. "She was family" and loved people, cemetery trustee Bruce Mathews told news sources. Her remains were discovered by a security guard. "She felt safe here," Mathews said. "You can't try to make sense out of it." Police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the deadly attack. That's why PETA is adding up to $5,000 to at least $1,500 offered by members of the community for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for this violent crime.

"Animal abusers are cowards," says PETA Director Martin Mersereau. "They take their issues out on the most defenseless beings available to them. Kansas City residents have good reason to be concerned. According to law-enforcement agencies and leading mental-health professionals, perpetrators of violent acts against animals are often repeat offenders who pose a serious threat to all animals—including humans."

    I'm not clairvoyant by any means but I've been in kc long enough to know that the minute the media did a story on this deer she was dead meat. There are good people here but as we all know there is also a low life group of assholes who will not allow anything good to exist. Their life sucks so it makes them feel better if they can pull everyone down with them. Yes we kill deer all the time for meat and sport but this was a special one and she deserved to live her life in peace in that lonely place. Too bad it was a short life.
