While the Church does move slowly, even the most devout Catholic apologists might find it strange that the priest has yet to be excommunicated given the circumstances and the fact that his misdeeds led to the first conviction of a Catholic Bishop in U.S. History on the misdemeanor charge of failing to report suspected child abuse.
Meanwhile, a ANOTHER KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER puts the ONGOING controversy in perspective for us . . .
"In St. Louis, a young priest, Fr. William Vatterott (age 37), pled guilty to charges of possessing child porn between 2010 and 2011. Ironically, that was about the same time that Fr. Shawn Ratigan was involved in child porn in Kansas City.
In June of 2011, Vatterot was suspended.
The month before, in May of 2011, Ratigan was arrested.
Vatterott was ordained in 2003. Ratigan was ordained in 2004.
Yet for more than 20 years, Catholic bishops have been assuring the flock that they are better at screening prospective priests to “weed out” those with sexual problems.
So how do you explain these younger clerics and their crimes?

Sadly, there is no explanation of this CONTINUED KANSAS CITY CATHOLIC SEX SCANDAL CONTROVERSY, only ardent denials as the Church hierarchy seem to be employing a strategy that relies more on legal maneuvering and political ploys rather than offering any contrition.

These dudes are very politically connected. That is the way the game is played. You can't act like a saint while swimming in a sea of sharks. Grow up.

Oh yeah and if they're black we should even be careful about using that term in order not to ruffle their feathers. All while people not "politically connected" go to jail or are fined outrageously.
ReplyDeleteIt is obvious after all of these scandals, that catholics arounhd here don't give a shit if their kids get molested or not. They keep shoveling the money to Finn and he keeps paying it out in lawsuits settlements. Decent parents would demand that he be run out of town.
ReplyDeleteI like it when they do the right thing and kill themselves. Ratigan needs to do the right thing. Finn would do well to do the same. The world would be much better off without them. They could go see if their belief holds true and meet their maker.
