Bill Session Hot Mess Offers More Ammo Against Kansas City MBE/WBE Contracts!!!

When Kansas City railroads an ordinance through the Council . . . The "Emergency" clause eliminates most up-front minority hiring requirements.

Recently, Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Circo took a political hit on this tactic for a pricey soccer field that's totally going to exclude minority biz.

However . . .

Detractors of MBE/WBE contracts and hiring now have a bit of ammo in their crusade against minority hiring . . .

Construction company improperly got minority status, KC auditors say

Never mind the fact that this hurt minorities biz more than anybody else . . .

Once again City Hall mismanagement serves as a convenient talking point and easy target for just about any small government argument.

  1. What "hot mess"? This is simply another incidence of negroes getting business because they're black, and nothing more. While they cry that they're downtrodden and exploited, the truth is just the opposite. Blacks are the worst racists in the world.

  2. I find it humorous that a Councilperson would describe the City's role in this debacle as "allowing" this to happen, as if they were some passive bystander in the certification process.

Then City Manager Wayne Cauthen ramrodded this deal through, and Human Relations Department Director Philip Yelder approved and expedited Session's minority certification- over the objections of his own staff. Seems a more appropriate verb to describe the City staff's participation in this would be "caused".

Cauthen is gone. Perhaps it's time for some accountability for Yelder.

  3. Well I am against being forced to hire anyone based on skin color or gender and don't think companies should get work based on skin color or gender. If you are good, the work is there if you're a half ass or less ran outfit the work won't be but then that's you're fault not mine.

In short get off your ass and make something of your self the old fashion way with hard work and by doing good work.

  4. +1 Superdave
This sets minorities up for failure in the worst way and it opens the door for fraud like the contract of Mr. Sessions who is obviously pale white and not a minority at all. He probably found some legal way to classify himself as a minority and in the end, these alleged affirmative action programs usually end up helping those it intended to excluding and further compounding the problem of a diverse workforce.

It is always the politically connected who get the contracts anyway. The people who could actually benefit from these programs never get the assistance it needs.

I agree with Superdave that I do not support hiring based solely on skin color or gender. I disagree that if you are good, the work is there. If the hiring manager is a racist misogynist, you will never get the job no matter how good a worker you are, or you'll get the job and just be harassed along the way. Neither sound rewarding and both defeat the purpose of establishing your own business.

I also disagree that skin color has anything to do with whether you are a hard worker or not and that most people of color are lazy. That isn't true, Superdave, implied or assumed. That thought reveals that you don't know very many people of color and that's a shame. There are plenty who work hard, have talent and go above and beyond the call of duty still to be left out of opportunity or equity.

I'll have to think about the resolution but I don't think the MBE/WBE nonsense should continue. It's clear it doesn't work if a well-off white man who has had all the equity he can muster only to become more greedy and consume and participate in a program that was never designed for his inclusion.

  5. Uh, do not confuse former FBI Director William Session (the white guy) with KC lawyer William Session (the black guy). KC lawyer Session is black as dark chocolate.

  11. It just keeps getting better.

The EEOC is going after companies who won't hire felons.

"Federal regulators Tuesday accused two large employers of improperly using criminal-background checks in hiring, the latest salvo in a contentious debate over whether such screening amounts to discrimination against black applicants.

In complaints filed in federal courts in Illinois and South Carolina, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission said two companies discount retailer Dollar General Corp. DG -1.73%and a U.S. unit of German auto maker BMW AG BMW.XE -4.83%generally barred potential employees based on the criminal checks, when they should have reviewed each applicant. The commission said the policies had the effect of discriminating against black applicants."

Then of course, after your other employees are murdered, robbed and raped you, as an employer will get to go to court in a civil suit which will claim you didn't screen your employees well enough.

End ALL Affirmative Action and Protected Class Bullshit today!

  12. 9:18- What is the procedure for administering an IQ test to turd? I'd like to try it, if you don't mind sharing.

  13. 11:25, are you going to test Yelder?

    ReplyDelete
  14. How come Yelder can't pay his Jackson County property taxes on time with his over 100 grand salary?

    ReplyDelete
  15. Perhaps Session was going to pay Yelder's taxes, 7:49. Until, that is, the RG dirt work turned out to be a money loser!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yelder doesn't have to pay taxes promptly, like humans do. He's black and protected. Haven't you learned anything yet? Kinda like Cleaver and his car wash, which he'll skate on too..
