IS A KANSAS CITY YEAR ROUND PLAZA FLASH MOB CURFEW RACIST?!?

The sordid topic of race relations is on blast today at City Hall as extending Kansas City's entertainment district curfew to a year-round regulation was under discussion and then delayed by three weeks.

Council Lady Maracson sponsored the ordinance but didn't really seem enthusiastic about defending it.

More than anybody else . . .

Council Dude Jermaine Reed attacked the curfew and noted that every single one of the curfew citations have been given to African-American teens.

Councilman Sharp doesn't think the year round curfew extension is necessary

Meanwhile . . . Council dude Brooks claims that African-Americans have never felt welcomed on The Plaza . . . Did we mention that he drives a Lexus?

Finally . . . Mayor Sly seems supportive of the year-round curfew but not of racism which is typical of his equivocation on most controversial subjects.

And now . . .

THE QUESTION GOES OUT TO THE TKC BLOG COMMUNITY: IS A YEAR-ROUND KANSAS CITY COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA CURFEW RACIST?!?!

Sadly, we're expecting some really racist responses from people who seem mostly powerless . . . But the subject is still worthy of consideration given that City Hall is now forced to step in and do a job that many KCMO parents seem unable and unwilling to undertake.

Repeal the curfew, let the little shits run wild killing and maiming each other, and then call in KCFD-EMS to haul away the bodies and hose down the pavement. Problem solved.

  5. Club KC is a stupid name for a summer program. Sounds like the Army is paying for this one?

    ReplyDelete
  6. Yes, every one of the curfew citations were given to A.A.s. Now, what does that tell you?? It tells you that the NIGGERS are the only ones violating the curfew and I imagine that's a fact.

  7. The Army isn't paying for it, the Kansas City taxpayers are.

I didn't get to vote on it either.

  11. I don't see mobs of white teenagers going to the Plaza and causing problems. I wonder why that might be?

Pulling out the race card every time one screws up is getting old.

  12. Jermaine always plays the race card, because that's the only card game he knows. He learned it from Alvin Brooks and Carwash Cleaver.

  13. It seems like saying you don't agree with black issues like this is like saying you don't agree with homosexuality, its not that they really want your opinion its sort of like saying "how are you?" they don't really care its just a formality, if you walk into a predominately black neighborhood that is crime ridden and the City officials are corrupt and the school system is broken and its predominately blacks who are running the boat (much like ...no ... exactly like KC), what your going to get if you point out the fact that people aren't qualified to do what they are doing or that it is due to corruption, cronyism, etc is this "oh, this must be a black thing...again" oh well, I don't see KC coming out of this any time soon, people will leave and they'll blame it on "white flight" due to "racism from the white community" and then look for more grants, government bailouts etc.

  14. It's just another excuse to dip into the taxpayer trough and slap a band aid on a chronic problem that needs a permanent solution.

This city's leadership sucks. BIG FAIL.

  15. How can putting a restriction on youths being in entertainment areas be racist? The definition of racism has gotten diluted. Racism is a rule/law/action directed at a person or group of people defined by color/race/religion. This curfew has an age restriction with no mention of race color or creed, so not racist.

  16. Maybe if City Hall stopped putting all their time into playing real estate developers and started addressing our most serious problems for a change?

The faster they try to run from these problems the more they pile up and no amount of gold plated projects are going to conceal it.

  17. What about Google Fiber? Being the great humanitarians and saviors of the world and all? Can't they send the Rainbow bunny's over there to East KC? Create start up villages?

Is Google racist or something? Being they are 99% white and all?

  18. Sly James is in Denial. As long as parents refuse to parent, nothing will help.

  19. Let me guess, Jermaine Reed is the one who keeps forcing the race card into the discourse. Instead of focusing on and addressing bad behavior starting with negligent parents and right on down to their kids.

  20. Two problem groups of people in the world are fucking everything up, radical Muslims and Niggers. All Muslims aren't terrorists but most, if not all terrorists, are Muslim. All blacks aren't Niggers but all Niggers are black.

Let's just focus with laser beam intensity on eradicating these people and see what a wonderful world this would be.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have lead you down the path to your own destruction with this bullshit - wherein you blame everyone but those who are truly guilty.

  25. There is actually not one 'chocolate city' in the USA that is not a total failure.

There are two things that are common across all chocolate cities.

Rampant political corruption often ending in indictment (see Detroit mayor) as well as an extraordinary amount of gun crimes.

When your constituency carries illegal and unregistered weapons it is political suicide to encourage things like stop and frisk.

  28. 3:21

Kills it. There are some other great comments too, but 3:21 hits all the bases.

No matter how many people are assaulted, intimidated and robbed on the Plaza, folks like Jermaine Reed will blame the victims for racism and ignore the fact that ALL OVER AMERICA there are black mobs rioting, assualting, robbing and killing innocent Americans who are unfortunate enough to be in the area of large numbers of African Americans.

    That is all it takes.

Denying the reality of this phenomenon is part and parcel of the RACISM INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX's efforts to keep aquiring money from the government.

This is not rocket science and the facts are in your face 24/7 in the news every day.

It doesn't matter, it will get worse and the ever more onerous tax burden foisted on the ever diminishing middle class tax payer is now, has been and will destroy this country.

Someday, we will ALL live in Detroit.

    ReplyDelete
  29. So how many people were robbed, beaten assaulted, etc? A couple of isolated incidents a year or more ago. By the same criteria you should close all of the bars.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Of course it is racist. So what! Shouldn't no niggers be on the Plaza, except the janitorial staff. They can't afford to shop there and the whites can't afford to have them around there, driving off the paying white customers. Make the whole Plaza "private property". That way it can be fenced off and the guards can just let the decent looking white folk in.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Depends on the end result you want. The curfew itself is a-moral, but when it is applied after the incident occurs, it was clearly approved to remove one group of people from the plaza. However, if you do not apply the curfew, the plaza will look like Troost and Prospect before long. So, what do you want the plaza to be 39th and Prospect, or Leawood town center? It's your choice!

At this point the council is concerned about losing the plaza to a bunch or thug kids, so they put the blinders on and put in place a racist policy to save a huge eco-devo for the city. Without the Plaza there is very little non-Wal-Mart shopping left in town. Even Zona Rosa is half empty. To them its all about the money and the deep pockets that help them out!!

  33. 4:52 you must have selective memory...Atlanta and Washington DC are to metropolitan areas that are predominantly Black and are both frequently called "Chocolate City". In fact, most major metropolitan areas in the north east and south have a huge population of Black people and are doing great. It's the hick xenophobic mentality of the midwest that exacerbates the race issues.

But back on topic, the curfew itself isn't racist and it's not what Reed is harping about...it's the fact that the only kids who've been issued citations for violating the curfew have been Black. You'd know that if you actually read the article instead of the headline.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Screw the Curfew. Yellow bus in JOCO suburb white teens, preferbaly with Dad's credit card, a Summer program: "Shop, dine, and go to the Movies! Go to the plaza on Saturday nights"..... I am confident Club JO is the answer

  35. It's about unsupervised, undisciplined minors. Be a responsible parent and know where you kids are and what they are doing at all times. End of Story.

    ReplyDelete
  36. lol @ 5:25. Don't know if you really meant that or what, but it CRACKS ME UP when people from the midwest, ESPECIALLY MO/KS, act elitist with their pinkies in the air. I literally double over laughing when I see a haught-eh expression out here. Zero fucks if you're "rich" and live in a "nice area" ... it's still *just* the midwest and you're never gonna matter, so get over yourselves.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Does the curfew discriminate against one race in favor of another? No. Therefore, it's not racist.

    ReplyDelete
  38. No, but c'mon...does it really HAVE to?

    ReplyDelete
  39. on ch 9 tonight Reed all but said that there is a racist component to this issue.

Simple question, are the mob of kids causing the problems white or black? From the video, eyewitness statements the majority are black.

But the truth is, it doesn't matter!! These groups of kids are causing problems, so if the council doesn't have the political strength to expand the curfew then the police should arrest the kids for ANY violation and force the parents to go to HQ's or juvie hall to pick them up.

Plain and simple, zero tolerance and lock them up and make the parents accountable.

Yes, this will take up valuable police time, but it will solve the issue.

AND JERMAINE.....if they are black they get arrested, if they are white they get arrested!! But don't try to make it a race issue. You quoted how many curfew violations had been issued and the majority were to black teens. You're trying to tie that to this is racist.

If the majority were issued to minorities so what, they appear to be the people causing the trouble.....you should be ashamed of yourself for being a part of the problem by making it a racial issue when it is not.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Council Dude Jermaine Reed ...noted that every single one of the curfew citations have been given to African-American teens. What planet is this idiot from? How do these people ever get elected?

  41. 4:52 you must have selective memory...Atlanta and Washington DC are to metropolitan areas that are predominantly Black and are both frequently called "Chocolate City".
    --------------------------------

Exactly, and they are both war-zones. Atlanta has perhaps the worst white flight in the country and DC has gotten so bad the crime now bleeds into suburban Maryland.
    -----------------------------

In fact, most major metropolitan areas in the north east and south have a huge population of Black people and are doing great.
    ---------------

There is not a city in the NE that has a black plurality.

And I will never forget my "Chocolate City" New Orleans. I remember being in Mississippi, picking through boxes that I had gone back into the city to get. I remember seeing Nagin on TV telling us that New Orleans was going to be a "chocolate city' forever. They even set up polling places in Atlanta and Houston so urban blacks could vote in the election. They didn't bother to set any up in Mississippi or Alabama so I was denied my constitutional right to vote, disenfranchised as a voter by the Black power elite of New Orleans.

Never again. Never will I inhabit a "Chocolate City".

Black people talk on and on about imagined slights on their ability to vote but this here cracker was illegally denied his right to vote against Ray Nagin.

    ReplyDelete
  42. If Hell exists, Ray Nagin will be burning in it.

I hope the terrified screams of people drowning in their attics haunt him for eternity. Rows and rows of school buses that could have been comandeered to save people left to flood in a parking lot.

  43. No Nigger children should not be on the Plaza. It really has little to do with skin color. It's more related to their blatant rude, loud, obnoxious, disrespectful and bullying behavior. They get it from their mothers. We all know these kids don't have fathers involve to any extent in their lives. That's the policy change that needs to be modified. Women stop fucking for free!

  44. Reed is dead wrong. The curfew is not racist. When it applies to all youth, and it will, it is absolutely not racist. Reed should be ashamed of himself for trying to make this public safety issue a matter of race.

Read up, Jermaine. Educate yourself on the real issues affecting Kansas City. Pull your head out of your ass and quit screaming racism when there is none, quit micromanaging NTDF so your buddies can get funds they're not eligible to receive, and quit telling Public Works how to do their job.

Will someone, anyone, with a modicum of sense and talent, please run against Jermaine Reed?!

  45. what kind of fucking name is "Bryaunah"? Are you related to that fuck stik negro "Bryionia" from the east coast who collects a check every month and is somewhat blind? lol

    ReplyDelete
  46. I saw the Jermaine Reed blurb on the news last night and just about puched my TV. I'm getting so tired of the blacks crying foul everytime their people screw up. The citations were given to black teenagers because they're the ones who thought the rules of society didn't apply to them. Try taking responsibilty for your own actions instead of blaming whitey whenever you get slapped on the wrist for not acting appropriately. All the rest of us have to pay for our crimes. And guess what? We don't have the luxury of claiming we've been profiled. If we do the crime, we have to do the time. It's becoming more of a racial issue than it needs to be, because the blacks perpetuate it. They claim they want to be on an equal plane with other races, yet deliberately segregate themselves into their own group whenever its convenient for them. Grow up, learn how to act like decent contributing members of society, and you might not get intoso much trouble. Nobody makes this stuff up. When black folks get in trouble, its because they've done something wrong. They need to learn how to own up to it. I'll probably never see it in my lifetime, but a man can dream.

    ReplyDelete
  47. No, there shouldn't be a curfew. When the NIGGERS are done ruining the Plaza, simply sweep up the debris and pave over the top of it. It'll be fine, just like the Bannister Mall, etc.

  48. Since the curfew applies to all teenagers, black, white, brown, whatever...

    no, it's not racist.
