TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! UNREPORTED!!! KANSAS CITY HEALTHCARE LEVY TANTAMOUNT TO COSTLY TAXPAYER TRUMAN MEDICAL CENTER TAKEOVER!!!

In the advent of Obamacare, the only thing that's exceptionally clear is that Kansas City's Healthcare Levy is exceptionally sloppy and expensive.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY MAINSTREAM MEDIA HAS FAILED TO REPORT THAT THE HEALTHCARE LEVY IS MOSTLY DEDICATED TO KANSAS CITY FUNDING TRUMAN MEDICAL CENTER WITH AN EXCEPTIONALLY GENEROUS CUT OF THE TAX!!!

How generous?

Read for yourself . . .

Most mainstream media doesn't want Kansas City voters looking over ordinance language because it makes their spin by way of government officials even more embarrassing.

But check it out for yourself.

Ordinance #121072 . . .

Pay close attention . . .

IF THE KANSAS CITY QUESTION ONE PASSES AND THE HEALTH CARE LEVY EARNS 9 MORE YEARS OF VOTER FUNDING . . . 15 OF EVERY 22 CENTS WILL GO TO TRUMAN MEDICAL CENTER!!!

For critics of this sloppy ordinance, this kind of voter subsidy is troubling.

"There's a great deal of importance placed on funding Truman but almost nothing built into the ordinance in terms of oversight. If taxpayers are going to be picking up the bill, I want more accountability for how this institution spends its money and so far NOTHING is in place that strictly lays out a plan for INCREASED accountability given this increased subsidy. Furthermore, if Obamacare passes. Expect this to be a NIGHTMARE scenario for KCMO. All bets are off."

And that doesn't even get us started on the controversy over executive compensation.

In reality, Kansas City Insiders have told us . . .

SO MUCH LONG-TERM SUBSIDY FROM TAXPAYERS IS BASICALLY NOTHING MORE THAN A KANSAS CITY TAKEOVER OF TRUMAN MEDIAL CENTER!!!

Sadly, dead tree media would rather pass a sloppy and EXPENSIVE tax rather than risk asking questions about finances directed toward Kansas City's power brokers or show any concern that local health care funding amid the implementation of Obamacare looks to be hot mess.

The vote is scheduled for April 2nd, 2013.

  1. Maybe if the City focused a little more on preventing trauma from violence, like gunshot wounds, knife wounds, head and internal injuries caused by blunt force trauma, etc., Truman wouldn't have such a large amount of uncompensated care and thus wouldn't need any public subsidy.

  4. As long as the City of KC Health Dept & Dr Archer isn't getting any of these funds I am totally for TMC. The accountability for the money has already been in place for the pass years the health levy has been in place and annual audits are conducted.

  5. 8:14 makes a really good case. I may be swayed.

  6. What about the unqualifed State Senator who got the perks job of Director Of TMC East. HOw much does he make. More than 40 K I bet

  7. I don't know there is no evidence of a "private profit machine" being run out of City Hall these days. Just winner takes all kind of stuff.

    Mr. Tony,
Truman Med is Really a regional endeavor. How many indigent patients from outside the city are served at TMC. TMC east... in the city? No sense asking Dr. Archer as he is such a buffoon.
Another question just rolling along- How much money have we saved from the ill-fated MAST/KCFD merger? that was supposed to be in the Millions. Mr. Tony, could you give Ms. Circo a call and ask her about the MAST savings?
    $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

    Here's from TMC website:

    2012 Community Benefit Report

TMC is a vital thread in the fabric of our community. TMC is a true community asset, providing more than $120 million a year in uncompensated care, employing more than 4,000 and infusing more than $120 million a year into the local economy.
This annual community benefit report provides detailed information about the quality-net services provided to the nearly 100,000 Kansas City and Jackson County, Missouri residents by Truman Medical Centers.

  10. Well the year of free health care for everybody.....except no one really understands the plans of Obamacare or the designers of the KC Robin Hood Style TaxOver. When they do they will get that free is something akin to "unlimited" from Sprint. ...ain't nothing free bro.

  11. If we have to pay that jig ceo, all that money, the damned thing SHOULD be taken over but somebody, anybody..

  12. We shouldn't have to pay this.

    VOTE NO!

  13. I heard a supporter of this tax speak. He convinced me. I'm voting no. It's all emotion and no facts. The levy does not need to be approved (if at all) for two years. We don't know the effects of the new health care law on the indigent. And the compensation at the top levels of these nonprofits ($817K-$1,187K) is truly excessive.

  14. Looks like a good place for OCCUPYKC to set up camp...ha

  15. President Obama will make it all right, just wait Obama Care will decrease health care costs just as soon as we figure out what is in the law.

  16. No way KC should have put together something so thoughtless. We deserve better legislation from this rank ground of amateurs.

  17. I'd like to know how they calculate the uncompensated care number.

Whenever I go to the doctor, there is the number the health care provider charges and then a downward adjustment based on what the insurance company allows.

If TMC is using unadjusted numbers in calculating and reporting their uncompensated care, they'd be just as well off using last week's Powerball numbers and reporting that.
