UPDATED: AFTER A VERY GRACIOUS RESPONSE FROM TRUCKILY . . . THIS BOYCOTT HAS BEEN RESCINDED!!!
As part of my New Year's resolutions that I've mostly abandoned, I want to make sure that I have no less than three boycotts running on this blog at one time.
To date . . .
TKC STILL BOYCOTTS THE P&L DISTRICT OVER INSENSITIVITY TOWARD MINORITY PARTY-GOERS AND BANK CARD CLASS-DISCRIMINATION!!!
The boycott has been devastating and it probably won't end until Cordish does something to pay back the $12 mil the District costs Kansas City every year.
And of course . . .
WE CONTINUE TO BOYCOTT THE ROASTERIE COFFEE PLANE UNTIL IT COMES DOWN!!!
Over the course of this boycott we have revealed that former employees have a great deal of problems with the place and the management has looked exceptionally arrogant by ignoring the community while blighting a neighborhood. Again, this battle is for the long term but it's clear to see that THE TKC BLOG COMMUNITY is winning the fight.
And now . . .
BECAUSE OF A RACIST AND INSENSITIVE WEB PROMO VIDEO . . . TKC HAS LAUNCHED A BOYCOTT AGAINST KANSAS CITY WEB FIRM TRUCKILY UNTIL THE CLIP COMES DOWN!!!
Admittedly, most of you probably didn't know that Truckily existed.
According to their twitter, they're a "Food Truck Location Management Software & App" biz.
But what's more important . . .
THE COMPANY IS USING ETHNIC STEREOTYPES AND A RACIST CARICATURE TO SELL THEIR SERVICE!!!
Watch the video for yourself and tell me if it's racist . . . One look and you'll see that it uses insensitive ethnic caricatures. This isn't just unacceptable for the biz world . . . This same kind of "Frito Bandito" marketing tactic didn't even fly in the 70s. And here I thought we've made progress in what some are calling "post-racial" American society.
And so . . .
SADLY, IT'S CLEAR THAT THE SO-CALLED "SILICON PRAIRIE" LACKS DIVERSITY AND KANSAS CITY'S TECH BOOM IS REALLY ABOUT PROPAGATING STEREOTYPES!!!
We implore Truckily to quickly remove their video in order to end this boycott that could start another EPIC Kansas City conflict spanning generations and causing a great deal of unwanted suffering.
More to the point, it's important to realize that diversity and respect for other cultures should be a part of Kansas City's tech boom and so far it's not not.

Given the preponderance of Mexican food trucks in Northeast, specifically along the avenue and the complete LACK of any other food truck that serves elitist, artsy-type, white yuppie scum food (burgers, ice cream, pies, etc) I'd say the clip is biased toward Northeast food trucks only. But that's just me.
