TKC EXCLUSIVE AND BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY STREETCAR SUPPORTER TOUTS HARD WORK IN COFFEE SHOPS AND HOPE FOR EVEN MORE TOYS TRAINS!!!
Check a recent complaint in the archives that's worth highlighting today as the Kansas City Streetcar becomes cruel and expensive reality by way of corrupt or hopelessly naive politicos working at the behest of engineering firms.
To wit . . .
READ THE WORDS OF A D-BAG KANSAS CITY STREETCAR SUPPORTER WHO LAMENTS HOURS OF "WORK" IN LOCAL COFFEE SHOPS IN ORDER TO MAKE THE $100 MIL TOY TRAIN A REALITY!!!
We found this passage as a very late response to the TKC Top 5 Reasons Kansas City's Toy Train Streetcar Won't Live Up To The Hype!!!
Check it:
From A Kansas City Toy Train Supporter
"If you all had such strong feelings against the streetcar, you should have (like the supporters did)led voter registration drives and donated HUNDREDS of hours to sitting in coffee shops notarizing NO ballots.
I forgot... it is soooo much easier to sit back and complain while others try to move forward.
Further, another commentor stated we hope to become like NY, Chicago, Dallas... No, that is not even close. We will NEVER be that, and most Kansas Citians would never WANT that.
Another, said that the 2 miles is a joke. What part of PHASE I do you get? I will be paying heafty property taxes for the line (which the largest critics will NOT have to pay since they are not in the district)."
########
In just a few moments Kansas City's COMPLETELY RIGGED TOY TRAIN ELECTION WILL STAY WINNING but first allow me to retort.
First . . .
ARE WE REALLY CALLING HANGING OUT IN A COFFEE SHOP "WORK" IN KANSAS CITY NOWADAYS?!?! THAT'S PROBABLY THE SCARIEST LINE I'VE READ ALL YEAR!!!
Secondly . . . This doesn't need to be highlighted but it's a matter of public record that Streetcar supporters do, in fact, tout cities like Portland and their streetcar system when talking about pricey plans in Kansas City.
Finally . . .
THIS NAIVE HOPE FOR MORE TOY TRAINS SERIOUSLY DOESN'T UNDERSTAND KANSAS CITY'S OLD AND BUSTED ECONOMY!!! ALSO, RAISING PROPERTY TAXES FOR THIS TOY TRAIN GARBAGE WHEN CITY SERVICES ARE SO ABYSMAL IS A SHAMEFUL AND DESPICABLE STANCE BASED ON A THEORY THAT HAS YET TO PAYOUT!!!
Still, this battle was won before it ever reached the ballot box. Today The Streetcar will celebrate victory and the rest of Kansas City will be left to pay the bill whether it lives up to promises or not.
DEVELOPING . . .
They may win this election but don't throw yourself under the train just yet TKC.
ReplyDeleteYes, Kansas Citians believe hanging out in coffee shops, the Cheifs Stadium and the Plaza is work. Strange, I know but that's the trend among slackers in this town. Don't work but say you are. The amazing thing is people buy into it.
ReplyDeleteIts all over but the crying, suburbadroids. Kiss your favorite surface lot goodbye and crawl back into your beige reverse-1.5-story whitemare.
ReplyDeleteAny opponents planning on crashing the victory party today? Tony, you should make an appearance.
ReplyDeleteRail Transit in KC should be the Sanders Plan. The plan that got "approved" via a questionable election today is an abomination that hopefully will end in a litigated abortion in some courtroom.
ReplyDeleteThe TT supporter sounds like a DOUCHE.
ReplyDeleteDowntown/Crossroads folk are desperate.
The whole scene down there ain't what they thought it was gonna be.
And a silly expensive streetcar will not change a thing.
C'mon, someone with deep pockets. Please, gets some litigation going now. We little guys out here cannot afford to fight City Hall. First thing is there needs to be an injunction to immediately halt all work being done and the imposition of the sales tax April 1 until the whole hot mess is settled legally.
ReplyDeleteBREAKING NEWS... Street cars (rail cars) were around in the 1800's. If they were so popular, why did the City remove them in the 1960's? The truth is that Kansas City is a PRIVATE (personal vehicle) transportation mecca. Just like the discontinued Trolley service, this TT is going nowhere fast. It will be scrapped after no one uses it. Count on it! For now, the City will spend the money and dole it out to their friends, drifters, grifters and hangers-on under the guise that it serves a public purpose. Oh wait, that's the jig they continue to use to get their projects pushed through. Kansas Citians are too gullible!
ReplyDeleteThere's gonna be
ReplyDeleteA certain party at the Power and Light
Satin and lace
I used to call "funny face"
She's gonna cry
Until I tell her that I'll never roam
So Kansas City choo choo
Won't you choo-choo me home?
Kansas City choo choo
Won't you choo-choo me home?
Its just a bit better than hanging out in mom's basement writing a blog that trashes anything positive. Unless its black, gay, or some shit music or "art".
ReplyDeleteI'm tellin ya boy
ReplyDeleteI'm on the Kansas City choo choo
What up on da choo choo
Boom dee boom boom
Yes I got my fare
And a lil to spare
Shine em up boy while I comb my hair
My guess is they will run out of money. Then have the nerve to ask for more money.
ReplyDeleteGas at $2.00 a gallon.
ReplyDeleteToy Train, empty as Bill Nigro's Westport Trolley.
Gas is goin to keep going down as a percentage of per capita expenditure.
No one will ride the train. Period.
Big loser economically.
Big winner on someone's resume.
The Sanders Plan relies on the streetcar (phase i and ii) as its central spine.
ReplyDeleteI agree with call for injunction. KC voted against rail before when they found out the costs. Since this is only Phase 1, the rest of KC really should have a vote on this starter line that will end up costing us all.
ReplyDeleteAnyone with some legal/political experience know what it would take to get an injunction? I for one would be willing to work on getting a petition going.
ReplyDeleteIts already passed a legal challenge to the voting district and process.
ReplyDeleteThis is how TDD get funded. Same as every other TDD in town, The Plaza, Oak Park Mall, etc. etc.
The difference is this one had more voter participation than the others. Want to get an injunction, get one for the "JoCo Gateway" which will cost untold billions and is estimated to shave 2 minutes off commute times 25 years from now.
Just how stupid is this "toy train" shit, really? Actually, it's beyond stupid. It won't generate a fucking dime, it's waaay too short to contribute to anything and finally, it will be financed with money collected WITHOUT a vote of the taxpayers that will be asked (ordered) to pay it. If KC is this God-damned stupid, it just deserves everything it gets. I suppose the current Mayor is evidence of this, huh?
ReplyDeleteThis stupid thing costs $9469 per foot of rail line just to build?
ReplyDeleteStreetcar and rail service have been consistently supported not just downtown, but in every ward from the River to Waldo, aka REAL Kansas City, where 75% of the cities tax base is generated, where the population is the densest, where the majority of cultural attractions are concentrated, where tourists visit, and where the northland and suburbs get the ammenities they need to attrat businesses and residents.
ReplyDeleteREAL KC.
You'll be seeing a phase 2 to the Plaza within 2 years.
More City, Less Kansas.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to relevance KC. This is a big piece of the puzzle.
ReplyDeleteWhat an exciting day to be a Kansas Citian. Now our rallying cry should be:
ReplyDeletePlaza or Bust.
So these morons agreed to increase their property taxes for 25 years, yet the city gave the residents at the expensive condo "the view" 25 years of no property taxes! You cannot trust this city with any of your money!
ReplyDeleteBring it on to Waldo.
ReplyDeleteElections have consequences. ha ha
ReplyDeleteAddress this question Tony?
ReplyDeleteIf this election was rigged, just what do you call a handful of business people handing Pat O'Neill, Steve Glorioso and/or Jeff Roe a 6 or 7 figures of cash to tell the big lie to the public?
That model has not worked out so well.
I saw that the council is voting to sell bonds on the street car today and tomorrow. But the council needs to have citywide approval to issue bonds, not just downtown, how can they do that, isn't that illegal? Doesn't the TDD have to issue the bonds, but it has no assets nor bond rating. Something smell here!!
ReplyDeleteBunch of fucking amateur lawyers here. Jesus, H. Quit talking out your asses.
ReplyDelete...HUNDREDS of hours to sitting in coffee shops notarizing ballots. To vote your ballot had to be notarized and people are worried about voter ID.
ReplyDelete"The difference is this one had more voter participation than the others. Want to get an injunction, get one for the "JoCo Gateway" which will cost untold billions and is estimated to shave 2 minutes off commute times 25 years from now."
ReplyDeleteBest comment, ever.
