Just now a rather BAD-ASS TKC TIPSTER witnessed Kansas City Council Dude Russ Johnson getting into a bit of a kerfuffle with the KCPD via his Twitter account regarding responses to social media.
Here's just a bit of the exchange that gets to the heart of the matter:
CLEARLY, COUNCIL DUDE JOHNSON WANTS THE KCPD TO START RESPONDING TO TWEETS!!!
Right now, calling in local crime or problem is still the best idea. In fact, the TIPS hotline just celebrated their 600th arrest in connection to local homicides. The TIPS hotline doesn't respond to tweets but instead encourage people to call or send in messages DIRECTLY.
Now, we're pretty sure that KCPD monitors social media already in order to gather information on public safety . . . As far direct response reported via Twitter, a BAD-ASS TKC TIPSTER notes the following: "Looks like Russ Johnson now thinks KCMO PD should have a Twitter response team cause you know, the police aren't busy enough."
More from a BAD-ASS TKC TIPSTER: "The pd has said in the past that they don't staff the twitter account 24/7 so they don't want people getting used to tweeting them incidents cause they might not notice it for awhile."
But I'm putting it to you TKC READERS because we all decide the future of new tech and how we're gonna deal with it:
SHOULD THE KCPD RESPOND TO TWITTER AS COUNCIL DUDE JOHNSON SEEMS TO SUGGEST?!?!
It's not an entirely horrible idea and maybe it wouldn't be that hard to achieve without an emergency ordinance or some other kind of pricey tech connected to the Toy Train.
But wait there's more . . .
A BAD-ASS TKC TIPSTER advises:
"HaHa!! And the last tweet Russ plays the 'Don't you know who I am' card"
The highlight courtesy of TKC . . .

Here @ TKC we're familiar with the rep of Council Dude Johnson so we don't need to be reminded . . . Interesting juxtaposition: Remember that Mayor Sly's son Kyle James was the last person on record attempting to remind the KCPD of their title. I guess in this instance we will assume that Council Dude Russ is just trying to be helpful since he's NOT screaming the question after some late night partying.
Anyhoo . . .
We could be looking at the future of police response tech in Kansas City or maybe just another social media beef . . .
DEVELOPING . . .
All things considered, a better idea than the Toy Train.

ReplyDeleteNo local control of the police!
F*ck, if we had local control then Council man Johnson could get his way without even having to ask a question.
ReplyDeleteSee what you have to look forward to with city control!! Bunch of dumbasses with their own agenda running the PD.
ReplyDelete"OH...COUNCILMAN JOHNSON?!"
ReplyDelete"We'll get to your tweet as soon as we catch all the bad people."
Asshat
Exactly.
ReplyDeleteThis tweet was inspired by the councilman getting stuck in traffic.
Still want your local control?
And, no matter what TKC tipsters say, Councilman Johnson isn't the worst. Just imagine how the others would abuse their power.
Phuc the City Council
ReplyDeleteNice to know some of us are light years ahead of guys like this. At least in the grown up department at minimum.
ReplyDeleteJust like most of the people in KC the police really don't give a shit who you are. Maybe if you were the mayor's son that crap would work.
ReplyDeleteMr. Tony,
ReplyDeleteCouncilman for life "Baby Doc Russ" Johnson is a downright fool. His title IS important to him because it is the onliest thing he will ever get.
That man-child is a jerk. He doesn't get all manly when folding over to Local 42 but he wants to tweet, tweet, tweet?
Aren't the elections soon? At least the election season?
Oh...you must be Councilman Johnson the screaming ape that runs around grabbing his asshole and yells like a monkey who got poked in the eye! That Councilman Johnson????
ReplyDeleteNiggers will have KCPD running all over town tweeting diversions so they can rape, rob, steal and kill in relative peace.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness Jeff City controls KCPD. He is suggesting that Police focus on social media and forget about violent crime. Streetcar Russ is a comfirmed nut case.
ReplyDeleteWhy doesn't Russ worry less about tweets and start working on making the long overdue cuts to fire department?
ReplyDeleteYou want people to Tweet problems to the police, but it's too much trouble to dial 9-1-1 or 234-5111 Maybe if you save those #s on your speed dial ahead of time it will be easier in an emergency. What an idiot!!!
ReplyDeleteOut of all the things he can get crude about, it's tweets! This City is run by fuckin retards!
ReplyDeleteI especially loved the "by the way, this is Councilman Russ Johnson." He forgot to mention how lame he is and that his mother dropped him on his head when he was a baby. What a prick! I don't know if there is one Councilperson at the City right now with a decent IQ. Seriously. This guy is the biggest jerk-off for tweeting this in the visible public. His leadership is laughable.
ReplyDeleteThis is idiotic. How are the police suppose to get more information from the reporting person? How would they protect confidentiality and guarantee the person that is twittering is actually that person. How many sexual predators have their own Justin Beiber account?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure about the rest of you asshats but I took his suggestion to mean if people are posting about their illegal activity on twitter then the police should investigate as self incrimination. Dope smoking, underage drinking etc etc etc
ReplyDeleteHow many cops does it take to respond to Councilman Johnson's tweet? None!
ReplyDeleteRuss will win. He always does.
ReplyDeleteTweet the police what dumb ass idea. The police do nothave time for this kind of crap. Use 911 that is why we put tons of tax dollars into the system. So get off of it Johnson
ReplyDeleteTypical example of Kansas City nigger leadership.
ReplyDeleteA recall of this idiot is way overdue.
ReplyDeleteKCPD already has it's own dumb ass tweet along where they pay a media person to sit in a patrol car and tweet.
ReplyDelete"The Kansas City Police Department is holding its third Tweet-along — a virtual ride-along with the East Patrol Division tonight. Members of the department's media unit will be tweeting from 8 p.m. to midnight"
No need to reinvent a stupid idea. KCPD already thought of it.
The city has an HR policy forbidding the use of." Social Media" sites by its employees. Maybe someone needs to inform the council. In a tweet, since phone, email, fax, aren't sufficient .
ReplyDeleteWhat a fucking idiot.
ReplyDeleteyour a tool Johnson. What s his license #? I'm ready to start writing him some traffic tickets. He's one of our city council folks? Really? I don't give a shit.
ReplyDeleteTwitter is a dumb idea for this purpose. I don't like it for anything, but this is definitely ridiculous. Hello. 9-1-1.
ReplyDelete5:58 Russ, thank you for clearing that up. LOL. He is a douche.
ReplyDeleteWow, Steve Glorioso worked hard on this post. And on the comments. Take a break now Steve. It's almost time to start bagging on the streetcar again.
ReplyDeleteRecall Russ
ReplyDeleteThe city can't even afford to hire enough dispatchers to handle 9-1-1 calls..how the Hell can they afford a tweeter?
