I've debated writing about the Israel/Hamas conflict and its connection to Kansas City mostly because I've got problems of my own.

Anybody else notice that parking is becoming impossible near Downtown Kansas City?

Anyhoo . . .

KANSAS CITY SOCIAL MEDIA ACTIVISTS NEED TO STOP PRETENDING THEIR SUPPORT OF HAMAS IS ANYTHING BUT A MISGUIDED NOTION THAT'S PROBABLY ROOTED IN ANTISEMITISM!!!

And then . . .

KANSAS CITY REALITY CHECK: THIS TOWN'S POLITICAL LEADERSHIP IS 100% SUPPORTIVE OF ISRAEL AND ANYTHING LESS IS A SENTIMENT THAT'S NOT PART OF LOCAL MAINSTREAM OPINION!!!

I don't want to get the details wrong here but I do know this: Kansas City Area Prez Truman and a few local prominent Jewish people (Edward Jacobson et. al) were responsible for the recognition of modern day Israel. To this day the Greater Cowtown Area is home to quite a few Jewish power brokers who influence the politics of this town and the nation - This group tends to be supportive of Israel and AGAINST rockets launched toward a civilian population. And so . . .

KANSAS CITY SOCIAL MEDIA "ACTIVISTS" (UGH) MIGHT WANT TO UNDERSTAND THE HISTORY OF THIS TOWN BEFORE THEY SIDE WITH A TERRORIST ORGANIZATION LIKE HAMAS!!!

Again, just a suggestion . . . I've got my own troubles to deal with . . .

    Tony might want to study history closer, including the ongoing blockade of Gaza by Israel, before he decides to give 100% support to EITHER side of this conflict. Throwing around charges of anti-semitism anytime someone has the audacity to question Isreal's state sponsored terrorism is pretty irresponsible. Hamas is a terrorist organization for sure, but from the perspective of the civilians of Gaza, so is Israel. Picking sides has gotten the United states nowhere in solving the conflict.

    Suicide vests and American made fighter jets accomplish the same thing - killing of civilians. I don't support the methods of Hamas, or the methods of Israel. I support efforts to free impoverished Gazans from both oppressors. Every civilian Israel kills will swell the ranks of Hamas and turn the desperate to extremism. You don't support Hamas shooting rockets into Israel? Me either. But I also oppose the vindictive military blockade that keeps the people of Gaza in a humanitarian nightmare. Keep with the current Israeli policies, then keep creating further extremism among a population fighting for daily survival.

    Arabs and Israelis are now shrewd enough to wage internet war with each other in FRONT OF US.

    I think smart people will realize both sides are pretty hot-headed.

    We Americans do understand how American native indians felt when the English settlers took over north America and stole their land. We get that, we know the Israelis did the same after 1948 and the agreement between the WWII victors.

    We understand the hard feelings of people who were robbed of their centuries own land. Maybe TODAY, we wouldn't have done that. It aint the 1940s and we've grown a lot since then.

    But maybe we should pressure ISRAEL into buying land for Jordan, paying for their resettlement from Gasa, expanding the West Bank, and giving them access to the Med.

    But Jews aren't so big on making consessions, are they? Maybe Obama's right...let them take their OWN RISKS for their future. I think Jews could be a bit more willing to make strategic concessions if they plan to survive. And no, their future and stubbornness isn't worth American's young lives!

    These people have been fighting since the beginning of time and well it's like wrestling with a pig in the mud.....if you think about it, the pig loves fighting in the mud the same as these people must love to some intent to fight one another ever so often.

    So everyone can play peace maker all they want but in the end it's a waste of time. Some day maybe they will have their fill of fighting all the time but I damn well know none of us will ever see it.
