MediaKC reports the latest figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulation: KC Star circulation drops by 7% on weekdays, 11% on Sundays
I know what you're thinking . . . Given these circumstances, NOW sounds like a PERFECT time to further limit readership with a paywall.
And while folks might criticize the journalistic integrity of bloggers, cutting off more readers while circulation falls amid a downward spiral for profits is pure CHICKEN GENIUS!!!

Kick it until it's dead and no hope of resurrection. It's worthless.
ReplyDeleteThe Star is as stupid as its Editorial Board. Hear the death rattle of a liberal rag who only reports what furthers its liberal agenda!
ReplyDeleteI hear Ann Romney is scouting the downtown area looking for an indoor dressage arena - she may buy the KCStar's pretty green building when the Star folds soon.
I only look at the damned on-line rag to check the obits, and I am sure as hell not going to pay them to look at that!
ReplyDeleteAnyone know of another alternative to check out the daily obits?
Tony, why don't you liven up your blog and start posting the obits...
ReplyDeleteBut they still drain money from the Star to publish INK?
ReplyDeleteIs the Star getting thinner and worse because circulation is falling or is circulation declining becxause the Star is getting thinner and worse?
ReplyDelete@ 1:54 - Isn't that what he's doing with this post. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI read it for free at First Watch.
ReplyDeleteGood point.
ReplyDeleteThe Star is raising their subscription price to include access to all their content on the internet, photos, ads etc.
ReplyDeleteThen endorsing Obama; it's the last straw for this 25 year subscriber!
I can't believe that I agree with Tony's stupidity for once.
ReplyDeleteYael is an idiot.
ReplyDeleteThe star sells paper, i use that paper to wipe my ass, because thats all the Star is worth. Today people can find out anything they need to know online...newspaper printers are a thing of the past, and I will never pay for news online, because with the internet you dont have to pay for worthless simple local information.
ReplyDeleteOnce the star closes it doors, the city can buy the building through a grant and make the old star building a homeless shelter, and being all glass you can drive by and see what looks like a hive of bee's running around.
That actually sounds kind of cool.. kind of like a homeless ant farm.
ReplyDeleteA totally worthless, biased. liberal rag of a paper. What a waste of a tree. By the way what is a Yael?
ReplyDeleteHe's a propaganda writer pretending to be a journalist.
ReplyDeleteThings that dont adapt go extinct. Hence, the worthless rag who employs the liberal fools from the stone age will be an exhibit in the Smithsonian.
ReplyDeleteI killed my subscription after I had enough of Louis Diguid, Mary Sanchez and Yael Ahboulhakamakafalafallafal and their cryin ass commie racist bs.
ReplyDeleteGood riddance, once they stopped reporting local news they became irrelevant. And their failure to report impartially drove away many subscribers who had other sources to turn to. Not long ago I subscribed and then when the renewal came I chose to not subscribe again so I didn't send in the payment. Guess what the Star did? Sent me to a collection agency. Supposedly it was my responsibility to call and cancel. Seemed to me that the fact I didn't send payment for another year would have been evidence enough i didn't want to re-up. And then they had the gall to call me a few months later and ask if I wanted to renew my subscription. Great way to treat customers.
ReplyDeletePolitics my friend, its all about money, even though you were a loyal customer!!!
ReplyDeleteKansas City Star? Never heard of it.
ReplyDeleteThen you missed out. They did some great journalism in the 70s and 80s.
ReplyDeleteWhen s TKC going to have a pay wall, Blogger King?
ReplyDeleteAmazing how long it can take a dying dog to die
ReplyDeleteThe Star has never been a credible newspaper, and it's steadily getting worse. It's now in the realm of a joke!
