Like it or not, people vote with their wallet.
I've always found the underlying financial motives of voters comforting because it proves the TKC UNIFIED THEORY that the overwhelming number of people walking around out there are are greedy mice desperately searching for cheese and identity politics is nothing more than a distraction.
And in that respect, things aren't looking good for the Democratic Party . . . ESPECIALLY IN KANSAS CITY!!!
Let's offer a run-down on some of the news that defines the current economic predicament for local Democrats . . .
Europe is poised to plunge the world back into a full-scale recession . . .
Sadly, most people with just about any understanding of finance realize . . . Stimulus won't save the economy

And the big picture that should make anybody with a buck to their name just a bit nervous . . . New York Times: China's Once Hot Economy Is Turning Cold
AMID AN EXCEEDINGLY HORRIBLE ECONOMIC OUTLOOK . . . CHECK OUT SOME PITFALLS FACING THE MOST PROMINENT KANSAS CITY DEMOCRATS!!!
Obviously, President Obama's reelection depends completely on the economy and the same factor that took Prez Bush The First out of office in favor of Prez Bill Clinton now threatens to put a price tag on all of that hope and change we were promised.
Congressman Cleaver's reelection plans aren't just about surviving redistricting but also making sure his longtime supporters don't stay at home like a bunch of broke people who aren't very motivated by political rhetoric. Harsh times don't inspire loyalists who fear GOP cutbacks if they're already struggling under the current regime. In the Congressman's favor, Kansas City's mainstream media has all but absolved him regarding his car wash problems.
Meanwhile . . . Sen. Claire McCaskill is running her campaign on veterans issues and name recognition rather than even addressing the economy. Her critics are doing the best to focus all of the problems of President Obama's Administration on her and tag her time and again with the "ObamaClaire" moniker . . . However, their efforts would be successful if anybody even knew any of the d-bags who are running against her. Meanwhile, The Star keeps threatening to really cover this race . . . But usually backs off most of their reporting promises.
Finally, Mayor Sly swears that he's a Democrat despite the fact that most Kansas City party insiders doubt as much. His reelection effort is a bit further down the line but rampant and irresponsible spending coupled with QUICKLY FADING POPULARITY FOR KANSAS CITY'S MAYOR will certainly take their toll. Kansas City is always a bit behind the times but if Mayor Sly continues his TAX AND SPEND strategy in this crap economy, he won't stay beloved by the public for very long . . . And his son running around ALLEGEDLY punching white broads isn't helping.
Still, the economy might turn around due to some miracle, we could regain jobs and The Great Recession might magically vanish thanks to all of our hope for change . . . While the idea seems far fetched, with current crappy economic indicators . . . Recovery instead of recession seems like the best hope for Prez Obama and so many Kansas City Democrats who share his political fate.

Actually, with the exception of the "consultants" and the losers who get what little self-worth they have by how important they are in some obscure political party job, most people don't much care for either party and more are becoming independents every day. And no wonder. The Dems insist on sucking up to every little interest group taking big money from anyone else they can. The Repubs are under the control of big business and the finanacial industry. Which leaves everyone else pretty much on their own.

Nobody could possibly be less interested in the general welfare and more in bed with the swells, grifters, and downtown boosters than Sly.
This country needs some ideas for 2012 and most of these folks are still trying to play the game as though the rules from the '60s still applied.

7:33 You've got it right. Almost all eleceted officials are liars and thieves. Just look at the percentage that wind up being convicted of crimes. And they are in a business where you can legally take bribes as long as you report them.

Worldwide correction of true asset valuation is what's going on. And creditors getting screwed by defaulting debtors. It will shake itself out, in another 15 years or so.

Setting the stage for the second revolution to come in a few years when the corporate wealthy start to go for people's guns and start taking away their food too, in order to control them.
