CITY THAT WORKS: A LIGHT SNOW REMINDS US OF MAYOR FUNKY'S ONGOING FAILURE!!!

Last year TKC was the first Kansas City news(ish) outlet to lay the blame for horrible local snow removal at the (bare) feet of Co-Mayor Funkhouser and Squitiro.

TRAGICALLY, THE FIRST KANSAS CITY SNOWFALL OF 2010 REVEALED THAT NOTHING HAS CHANGED AND KANSAS CITY SIDE STREETS REMAIN COVERED IN ICE THANKS TO THE FAILED FUNKHOUSER ADMINISTRATION!!!

I'm hoping the weather is going to be mild this year, I'd rather be comfortable than correct in my assertions that Kansas City's Mayor had done NOTHING to improve snow and ice removal for local side streets after so many complaints last year.

But here we are . . .

Even nasty, dirty, backward Lee's Summit is changing their snow removal strategy.

Meanwhile Kansas City streets remain a perilous icy mess after only a minor snowfall and some cold.

It's a disgrace that only politics, speeches and pressers are the answer to complaints from Kansas City residents. The snowy, icy evidence is all over Kansas City streets that the Mayor hasn't learned a thing about how Kansas City infrastructure and basic services work and leaving him and his wife in charge isn't just silly but really dangerous.

  1. Everyone who serves and has served on Council for the last 30 years shares the blame for creating this No Plow/No Treat Policy for streets. Funk deserves blame, but he is not the only one.

  2. This is a great photo, but where is Mr. Sluggo?
    Certainly not driving a snowplow!

  3. Nasty, dirty and backward Lee's Summit? Its is rated one of the best suburbs in America. And has the most progressive new urbanist developments in the metropolitan area.

  4. The city council wanted to keep Wayne Cauthen. The City Manager is the one who runs the city. So blame the city council first. The city council does not even believe the Mayor can make appointments.

  5. Lee's Summit -- Progressive? LOL

I guess in the same way that Germany was "Socialist" in the 1930s.

One can always use words in funny way.

  6. I'm really curious what everyone expects when 40+mph wind would have just re-covered any streets swept clear and the outdoor temperature is far too cold for salt to even work?

Besides, where are these covered streets? There's a few patches of ice here and there, but Tony's clever photo is from last winter.

  7. Did Steve Glorioso run off back to New York with all our salt money?

  8. Lee's Summit, that bastion of white trash flight. And those "new urbanist developments" are just more sprawl creating more meto fragmentation.

  9. Jackson County needs to get it over with and just file for bankruptcy.

  11. you gotta be fucking shitting me? you morons wanted to spend $500,000 to plow 1/4 inch of snow? you need to get a life.

  12. IF the city would have wasted money plowing, you would have bitched how it was a waste of tax dollars. Snow is a no win situation with you idiots.

  13. This is the picture of the big snow storm last year that Tony used.

  14. No kidding. It was a dusting of snow. If they plowed, you people would piss and moan about the wasted money. Are you bitching at the sun for not glowing bright enough today, too?

Does the city need to send someone to your house to make toast for you? If a dusting is snow is too much to handle, do you need a live in care giver, too?
