CHECK OUT THE CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS DEPARTMENT FIGHT AT THE T&I MEETING TODAY!!!

Bad Ideas Never Really Die In Kansas City.

To wit, right after The Capital Improvements Ordinance failed a couple of weeks ago . . . It was immediately recycled by Council Dude Terry Riley.

In just a couple of hours the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is going to consider it again . . . It passed the measure last time and there may be some vote trading.

What's interesting to me is that Council Dude Terry Riley hasn't check out of City Hall politics after announcing his bid for The County. He's just as engaged as ever . . . And John Sharp is pushing this ordinance as well.

As far as I can tell . . . The only thing it really does is cut the legs out from Acting City Manager Troy Schulte and creates even more bureaucracy but I'm not as smart as Council people and their backdoor maneuvers.

In any event, a great many people will be watching the drama . . . As Kansas City covers old ground and remains hopelessly divided.

  7. This is a very bad idea. If not for all the money that Cauthen ciphoned off for his Denver cronies with the first iteration of a Capital Improvements Department, perhaps many of those who lost their jobs over the last two years would still be employed. The only question seems to be, which cronies will benefit this time around? It's time to hold those responsible accountable and quit recycling the bad managers instead of promoting them. Many lower level jobs were lost when those at the top should have been canned.

It's certainly not a surprise that Sharp and Riley are involved in this - the two biggest power whores on the Council. But please, please, please do not pass this stupid idea.

  8. Watching it right now and Terry is sweating that he's not going to get his way. Trying to bully Skaggs - some things never change. If you can't get your way, distract with a fight.

  9. I've had some disagreements with Riley, but believe that he should leave public service to start his own consulting firm. He's still a young man whose had a long, successful career in politics. He is quite capable of running a profitable company given his connections and experience.

  10. Yancy, did you let Terry sit at your keyboard and write that?

Terry isn't capable of running anything, except maybe a scam. He's an idiot who bullies people and plays the race card. The "connections" he has will cut him loose faster than a speeding bullet once Terry isn't in the position to offer paybacks and accept kickbacks.

Terry is washed up. The only job he's qualified for is peeling potatoes in the Leavenworth Federal Prison kitchen!
