TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! Maybe Anne McGregor or some other Kansas City political hopeful can beat Beth Gottstein but I doubt it!!!

This is the last Kansas City Council race of the "Fightin Fourth District" in its current configuration so it'll be interesting.

THANKS TO AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS I'VE GOT SOME EXCLUSIVE DETAILS ON HOW THE 4TH DISTRICT AT-LARGE COUNCIL RACE IS SHAPING UP!!!

I blogged a bit of this earlier but now I'd like to get more specific.

Let's start with Beth's newest challenger:

AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS ARE SAYING THAT ANNE MCGREGOR IS ALL IN AGAINST BETH!!!

Because nobody is going to beat Jan Marcason.

Anyhoo . . . McGregor didn't help Obama take Jackson County.

She was a part of the ALMOST Funky Recall effort.

But a lot of folks are thinking that the 3rd time is a charm for this denizen of the local political scene who has made a lot more connections than people think.

And then there's Deth Im who might be the most likable dude in Kansas City . . . Which is probably why I can't stand him. Kidding . . . ??? A great many (white) people like the guy and we all know liberal guilt rules the heart of KC politics. I'm just not a fan of the model minority stereotype or campaign platform. And green issues, Deth's specialty, are better at garnering press than any kind of real change.

Parks Board President John Fierro gets frustrated when discussing his run for City Council but that's only because he's so short that he can't hear the adults talking over his head. Fierro's name has recently been making the rounds again when it comes to challenging Beth. And while I hear he's doing a decent job at the Parks Board, I have a strong suspicion that his umbrella holding for Mayor Funky won't be forgotten in the local Latino Community which can't elect a candidate in the 4th but could still prove valuable as a spoiler. Also, last time I checked The Star Beth was a Hispanic Advocate.

Oh . . . And then there's one more white guy with a short list of KC political activities but he looks good in a suit and that's one of the prerequisites for power in this cowtown.

JOHN MCGURK, TKC IS TELLING YOU RIGHT NOW TO SIT THIS ONE OUT!!!

Big Obama donations for a young dude does not qualify a person for a City Council spot.

Also, the fact that a possible pay cut is part of the chatter regarding his candidacy proves that McGurk's head is not in the right place . . . Stay lawyer-ing smart guy, bullying actually counts for something in that profession.

And in all of this field . . . TKC STILL DOESN'T SEE ANYBODY BEATING BETH!!!

Remember that TKC endorsed Beth's candidacy in her last general election . . . And I'm pretty sure she'll earn the TKC seal of approval next time around if only because I like her new haircut and since she's got a new boyfriend she seems to be smiling more often. That kind of thing impresses me, I'm a sweetheart like that . . .

  2. I bet Kay Barnes could beat Beth--and I'd vote for Kay.

  3. The funny thing is, you act like all this makes a difference.

All the worthwhile people have already moved to Eastern Jack or Overland Park.

  4. 6:16 is right, I moved and could care less.

Besides, I thought Beth wasn't running.

  5. Who the hell is Anne McGregor?

Let's face it, a damp mop could do better than Beth. All blow and no go.

Anne may be the only woman in KC who is a bigger space cadet than Beth.

Grasshopper, stick with the space cadet you know when faced with such a choice.

Now go play with the hornets and be gone with you.

  7. Tony-
John McGurk is the motherfuckin man. Literally and figuratively. If he runs he wins. Natch.

John McGurk "literally" fucked his mother? EWWWWWWW

There is no way that I am voting for someone like that.

  9. I agree... this is all so inside baseball. Collecting stamps would be more interesting than following the palace politics of city hall.

The only thing I got out of it was that Mahoney really should have started using Rogaine when he was young. What a pathetic way of earning a living, following these small time politicos around collecting fifteen second soundbites to fit between commercials on the tellie. People are just waiting for the weather, aren't they?

  10. rman still lamenting his fail at news, this time by belittling those still can and do.

  11. Supposedly Jim Glover is going to run again for his old seat...

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jim Glover??? I would rather have a stinky old gym sock represent me.

Then again, Glover does kinda look and smell the same, hmmmmm.

  13. Beth's campaign fund is $50k in the hole....I think a hobo with $5 could beat her

    ReplyDelete
  14. No, 7:28... It is a TKC exclusive!!!!!! McGurk is fucking Tony's mother. He beat the Star in reporting it.

  15. Is annie's carpet the same as the curtains??? Or maybe brown or shaved cled? anon wants to know.

  16. McGurk is McFLY9/4/09, 10:39 AM

John McGurk is AWESOME! He is the best thing that ever happened to Kansas City.

And, he would be an incredible asset in the smelly mosh pit that is KC politics.

Why don't you meet the guy for a beer or an ice cream cone, before you ignorantly dump on him? Write about it like you wrote about your lunch w/ Hearne. Please, and thank you.

  17. Tony if you endorse an idiot like Beth, it's time to hang it up! She can't take the same stand on an issue two days in a row! Flaky, nutty, and DUMB!!

    ReplyDelete
  18. Wow, what a collections of intellectuals! Anne McGregor is anything BUT a space cadet. But in blog land facts don't matter, only uninformed and woefully ignorant opinions of angry pathetic bigots. Still, there is amusement in listening to the funny farm.

  19. I am voting for the hobo with $5!

    ReplyDelete
  20. I thought Beth was running for Mayor?

    ReplyDelete
  21. You ARE the hobo with $5.00!

  22. Anne McGregor is definitely out to lunch. She thought her failure in the last Presidential race would be overlooked and she would be in the running for an Obama appointment. Right... Then she spun completely out of control when she let Glorioso use her in the Recall effort. That committee started without her and met it's demise when she bullied her way in the limelight with shameless Harris Wilder. She was TOLD that if she made a good showing she would be in the running for a seat on the Missouri State Energy Committee. WTF? She sure thinks she is IN THE RUNNING. Wilder is pimping her for Gottstein's seat. Between these two mental defects I am looking for some one else.
But on the other hand, trying for this seat would take McGregor's mind off of drinking.

  23. Beth has an ace in the hole. Her daddy will give her all the money she needs to win. Ask her she will admit it. He does not want her coming back to DEs Moines.

    ReplyDelete
  24. What are you talking about, Beth hasn't had anything in that hole of hers for ages. That woman has more nervous ticks than Monk!

    ReplyDelete
  25. My Dear Kara:

Apparently, you too have left the fact-based universe behind. If you call a black presidential candidate coming within 2,000 red-neck votes to almost win eastern Jackson County a failure, you are dumber than you seem. As far as Harris Wilder's mental state and his pimping skills are concerned, perhaps you should try to have a conversation with him before you condemn him. I understand he's a Harvard graduate, father of four and a really nice guy. Like they say, you're entitled to your own opinion, just not your own FACTS.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ms. Kara to you9/4/09, 12:16 PM

Those are facts. They are undeniable. Tell me, what do the other Obama workers/ volunteers think about Ms. McGregor?

  27. Beth = Firfighters

  28. Wilder is tied at the waist to one of the biggest crooks in Jackson County history, Albert Riederer.

  29. John McGurk has a bright future ahead of him, and I hope he runs - he will WIN!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Dear Anonymous:

You are too stupid for me to waste anymore time on. Suffice to say between you and Kara (Susan), your collective intelligence is just below the woeful level of your character. Albert Riederer is one of the finest people ever to hold office in this community. "Between the lines" is one thing... I challenge you to say these nasty slanderous lies to either Anne McGregor, Albert Riederer and especially Harris Wilder's face. You won't, because all you are capable of doing is hiding behind your anonymity and your miserable pathetic existence. Have a nice weekend, loser.

  31. T, what makes you think Jan is running for Council? Think again.

    ReplyDelete
  32. TKC endorsed Beth in the last general election? I heard her speak one time and that was all
I needed to know. She is a complete absolute idiot! In fact after that speech I heard numerous people in the audience say they couldn't believe they voted for someone so dimwitted. I mean really folks. I don't live in Kansas City, but surly you can find somebody with more intelligence than Beth Gottstein to represent you.

    ReplyDelete
  33. "Because nobody is going to beat Jan Marcason."

    NO

Just because you need Tips from her.

  34. I'd beat any of those gals if they would just let me. My basement is only smelly during the wet season.

    Tony,
I don’t visit your blog much but I did today after a fellow Obama volunteer told me you mentioned John McGurk. I don’t know if you’ve ever met him, but from what I’m reading in your post I would almost guarantee you have not. I hope that you get the chance some day. He really is a great young man. I had no idea he gave money to the Obama campaign, let alone the amount he did, but if you ever met him you wouldn’t be surprised because he gave the campaign everything he had. It’s interesting though that you mention his donations but not that he quit an amazing job at one of the largest and most prestigious law firms in town to work harder for considerably less. And he did it with passion and vigor. So much so that at every volunteer training we had he was singled out by the state leaders of the campaign as the best field organizer in the state. And he worked north of the river in Platte County. Not so much Obama country if you know what I mean. I was always amazed at the numbers he and his volunteers produced and how much they loved him. I have no doubt that he was the reason they were there. If only we had a few more John McGurk’s in the Northland maybe we would have carried Missouri.
As for his heart not being in the right place. That’s just plain wrong. In fact, if we had more like him in City Hall we would be a lot better off than we are now. Too bad baseless claims like yours are part of the problem with attracting great people to public service. Take the advice above and meet him before you question what’s in his heart. I’m positive that after that you will want to take back what you’ve said here.
As for running, DO IT JOHN! You have the Northland vote and you know it!

  36. Savant...I HAVE spoken with Harris Wilder and he is crazier than Beth! He is not a really nice guy, his kind is what gives lawyers a bad name! He is weird, self serving, has bad dentures, and a very Napoleon Complex! He is what happens when the kid in school no one can stand grows up!

    ReplyDelete
  37. You idiots - follow the link to Savant's blog handle. Savant IS Harris Wilder which explains why he has such nice things to say about him LOLZ
