Mind you, none of this is nearly as interesting as "rare" Star Wars photos I recently stumbled upon.

THE 4TH CITY COUNCIL DISTRICT IS ALREADY IN PLAY WITH A NUMBER OF FOLKS SHOWING SOME SERIOUS INTEREST IN RUNNING AGAINST BETH GOTTSTEIN AND JAN MARCASON!!!
Here are just a few names that KICKASS TKC TIPSTERS are throwing out . . . More candidates on the way just so Steve Kraske doesn't completely rip off my material.
So far, here are the most serious contenders:
What I like about the 4th District is that it's uglier than nasty liberals like to let on . . . There's racial, gender and socio-economic politics at play but mostly outright SUPREMACY is supported/enforced by Kansas City's upper-class in this district more than anywhere else . . . Housewives and otherwise nice people show their fangs for their neighborhood favorites and all the gossip generated by folks who can't stop watching The West Wing on Netflix.
Or . . . Some post census district dividing could alter the demographics and make the 4th not so interesting . . . Only time will tell just how much kindly Democrats despise people who don't fit into the stereotypical Brookside demographic profile . . .
Also, I'm not sure when I'll make the TKC candidacy for the 4th official.

I hope Deth Im runs. He was impressive when I saw him on a couple of candidate forums and seems to have an excellent grasp of local issues. I think the hardest thing he'll face is getting voters to vote for someone whose name looks like it should be pronounced "death." (Actually, it's pronounced "date.")
ReplyDeleteAnother young candidate that impresses me is Ezekial Almador (though I'm not sure he's in the 4th District). He also ran a few years ago and I hope he doesn't get discouraged that he didn't win. He shows lots of potential.
Maybe Deth Im is a serious choice. Marcasson and Gottstein are terrible, but why Ann McGregor? She helped lose the recall. Her and the lawyer Harris Wilder screwed up the effort. Same as her work in the Obama campaign. ask around, she was not effective there either.

Of course, if it's your Halloween costume, then go for it, but the other 364 days a year, leave the lavender at home. City Hall may be a freak show these days (thanks Funk/Squit) but let's all dress like grown-ups!

ReplyDelete2:22 -- I liked Deth also -- really thought he would be good and I was stunned when he didn't advance past the primary (although I like Gamble and Tancredi a lot also).
ReplyDeleteTancredi will likely run again as well...although if districts realign at all he'll be in the 3rd district, which would be good for the 3rd district. He lives in the area east of Troost that is strangely in the 4th district.
Amador would be in 4th again if he ran. I liked Zeke. I really think he and Forsyth split their votes and if only one had been running they could have at least ousted "I'm an architect" Solomon out of the picture.
Both Beth and Jan need to go.
What about the 6th district? I've heard that Sharp might face several challengers -- among them a very civic-minded millionaire who could self-fund his campaign. (Unlike Sharp, who is owned by the unions and Freedom, Inc.)

ReplyDeleteDoug Gamble moved from the 4th district to Briarcliff, which I think is in the 2nd district. He could run against Ford or Johnson, which is fine by me. Not likely to run against Ford though, as I believe Ford appointed him to the PIAC, on which he now serves. Yeah, Doug is in danger of being absorbed by the Borg Collective that runs this town. Resist it Doug!!
Deth is the only good candidate Tony listed.

It's what this city needs - you know, like light rail, good community programs and small business support - so we won't get it. But hey, maybe if the council were forced to read Mark's blog and attend Deth's sermons - they'd be a little better off at least.

ReplyDeleteRemember the 4th is going to cover downtown and the west side the next time around. It will definitely be hard for Jan or Beth to hold on as they also have stepped on the wrong toes and do not have the downtown vote. Tony get the west side started NOW.
