TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KC LGBT COMMUNITY WINS!!! CITY ATTORNEY'S LEGAL OPINION OPPOSES FUNDING FOR THE LIFE CHANGERS CONFERENCE!!!
TKC TIPSTERS ARE AMAZING AND THEY CARE MORE ABOUT EQUAL RIGHTS AND THE RULE OF LAW THAN ANYBODY IN KANSAS CITY!!!
I've just obtained some important news about an upcoming City Council vote for funding of a conference that the LGBT Community is calling homophobic.
CHECK OUT A TKC EXCLUSIVE DOCUMENT FEATURING CITY ATTORNEY GALEN BEAUFORT TELLING CITY COUNCIL FOLKS THEY SHOULDN'T FUND LIFE CHANGERS!!!
Read the memo for yourself courtesy of AMAZING TKC TIPSTERS.
The first part of this memo notes that separating the funds from the religious to secular parts of the conference (if there were any) hasn't been documented and would be impossible and not part of the initial contract.
The second part of the document is the most important . . . The City Attorney notes that funding the conference AFTER THE FACT is against City Hall policy. The conference is over . . . Giving it money after most of the folks have left town is against the rules apparently.
To wit . . .
FUNDING THIS CONFERENCE THAT THE LGBT COMMUNITY OPPOSES WOULD BE A TRAVESTY AND COULD EXPOSE KANSAS CITY TO LEGAL RAMIFICATIONS!!!
And here's where we really need to give AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS their credit . . . They are not only saving Kansas City 5 grand today . . . But also sparing this town from future lawsuits.
All thanks to a basement blog and a nice Investigative Series. Sweet.

ReplyDeleteSo when are they going to vote?
ReplyDeletethey need to quit funding(payoffs) for all these little interest groups that feed off city hall.
ReplyDeleteWatch closely Tony. I'm betting they either delay the vote or cave into the preachers.
ReplyDeleteSo its OK to fund all these worthless ideas as long as you don't offend a minority? They did the right thing for the wrong reason.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't do anything yet. Let's wait and see.
ReplyDeleteSmart money says they'll pass it.
ReplyDeletedead horse much TKC?
ReplyDeleteWell I now see how Satan is going to fight and discredit the black church. He already has turned society against most white evangelicals. Society has written them off as right-wing nuts and their own lack of support divided them from the black church which actually, until lately, held credibility or at least was a source of votes to be catered to by Democrats.
ReplyDeleteNow the black church is being challenged on its stand against homosexuality, especially in light of their vote against gay marriage in California. So they too will be written off as nuts or will have to conform and thus lose thier commitment to their faith and its teachings.
The question is this, does the Funk follow his henchmen Jeffy Roe and Marky Mark the gay basher and go hate monger on the LGBT community? Will he treat them with the same disdain as he does the African-American and Latino communities?
ReplyDeleteThis should be an easy vote
ReplyDeleteThe only thing we'll "see" today is that the Council doesn't care about the law.
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean that Kim Carlos and Cindy Circo have to give all the money back now? I mean the money they took for reintroducing the illegal expenditure on behalf of a hate-group.
ReplyDeleteTony - aren't you going to follow up with what actually happened on the vote?
ReplyDelete3rd and 5th district reps will vote for it, knowing it will be defeated - so they can imply to the right segments in their district, including the Ministers, that they have anti-Gay credentials.
The 3rd & 5th district reps know the motivations, and know to vote for it is wrong, and they are bending to the realpolitik of the situation.
That's the reasoning that got it out of committee.
And why are the Ministers out, after the fact, threatening and extorting for post facto funding of what was an unsuccessful event?
Hard up for $5,000. Pretty ballzy move. You just have to wonder why this got to full council in the first place, knowing the law is clearly against this from two different perspectives.
Quit riding me dude, I'm dead fer Christ's sake.
