Kansas City Red Light Rundown

Midtown is now inundated with Red Light Cameras . .

Here's the latest list:

  • Southwest Trafficway and West 39th Street
  • Southwest Trafficway and 27th Street
  • 63rd Street and Prospect Avenue
  • 39th and Main streets
  • 19th and Walnut streets
  • Wornall Road and 79th Street

    And I can't help but wonder one thing . . .

WHY AREN'T THERE ANY RED LIGHT CAMERAS IN THE NORTHLAND?!?!?!?! DON'T WE CARE ABOUT THEIR SAFETY AS WELL!?!?!

  • I'm sure folks in the Northland run red lights too and as long as there is an effort to "ensure the safety" of folks all over Midtown . . . Parts of The Northland which reside in KC Proper might benefit from this effort as well . . . Or maybe the politicos who pushed this from across the river realize that their constituents would hold them accountable for what amounts to a toll road the inconvenience of paying so many tickets . . . Nevertheless, I think Red Light Cameras out North would be a great idea and I look forward to those folks sharing in the safety which Midtown folks now enjoy.

    2. And why no red light cameras on 47th St. or Emanuel Cleaver Blvd? Everyone knows the Plaza people coming to and from highway 71 run red lights in droves during rush hour.

    5. Nowhere in Kansas City's northland has traffic as dense and target rich as SouthWest trafficway. A couple places in Liberty might justify one.

    6. Suburban northland people simply will not tolerate such b.s. The people who live in the city are accustomed to getting screwed by the city. Poor people don't pay tickets anyway so they never complain. Put a bunch of red light cameras in the Northland and there will be an uproar.

    7. good luck getting me to actually pay the ticket. you have to prove i was driving the fucking car first...

    8. Shit. Half the cars in this town are missing either plates entirely, or stolen. What's the revenue in that?

    9. It's like everything else- go after the easy targets. The average person who can't afford to take off work to go to court or hire a lawyer.
If these tickets are truly people who enter the intersection after the light has turned red, then great. I'm not so sure that's the case though.
