The City Council is tired of City Manager Wayne Cauthen.
He has two . . . Maybe three people who don't care if the stays . . . But the rest of them want him gone from what I hear. That includes the vast majority of Council People from the Eastside.
The logic: If they get rid of him, they absolve themselves of a lot of the guilt for extending his contract to such an extravagant degree in the first place.
To wit, they're prepared to play hardball after the budget battle is taken care of . . .
RUMOR HAS IT THEY'LL OFFER CAUTHEN A PARTIAL SETTLEMENT ON THE REMAINDER OF HIS SALARY AND MAKE HIM SUE THEM FOR THE REST!!!
Once gain, Mayor Funky has been cut out of this decision and the impetus for this move isn't coming from his office . . . Notice, that there has not been a press conference which is the only trick the Co-Mayor has left. If anything, if Mayor Funky does get involved he may encourage a few random, not-very-well connected protests from the African-American Community.
But I doubt it . . .
The support for Cauthen was never about his job but more of a "screw you" to Mayor Funky and his "Black part of town" and Mammygate mess.
So, the City Council is getting ready to give Cauthen the axe and it looks like it may not be as messy, sloppy or incompetent as Mayor Funky's first attempt.
And all of this is almost as interesting as the Real World's Jamie Chung in Maxim, but not really.

ReplyDeleteIf this turns out to be true, and more often than not your city hall stuff does, then every single one of them , the mayor, and the council should never see another term. Not because Cauthen is good at his job, he isn't, but these douchebags are playing one ups on the taxpayer tit.

ReplyDeleteIsn't this the same council that threw a hissy fit when Funkhouser tried to force him out a year ago and then voted almost unanimously to give him another 3 year contract to spite the mayor -- a contract that now they are going to have to buy out?

ReplyDeletePick names out of the phone book or the way they pick juries - could NOT do a worse job than the idjits who have been bringing down our town for decades.
TKC, my sources says they do not have the votes. Terry Riley is NOT among the votes to rid WAC from his 29th floor throne. Curls will follow Riley and Sanders-Brooks will follow the co- mayors. The remaining council is very split on this issue so it is hard to count on any votes. The only no confidence votes you can count on are Clinton Adams, Ken Bacchus, and Gwen Grant on this issue.
