Meredith Hoenes keeps looking at herself

Now here's the level of media criticism that we're all comfortable with . . . Apparently, it's been widely noted that Meredith Hoenes can't stop looking at herself in the TV monitor during her morning broadcasts . . . If it weren't for the fact that the show she hosts is mostly bunk and she's one hot piece then this kind of thing might be bad and could lead her career down some horrible Narcissistic path . . . Thankfully, women in TV News only have a window of about 3-4 years to work with before they're labeled as old and used up . . . Which is sad because old broads can go for a good 10 years in the bar scene before people start throwing those terms around . . . That's more than enough time to find a good sucker husband to pay the bills.

Still, I'm a big fan of TV talking heads and recently I stumbled upon a great collection of photos of on-air newsies. Enjoy the photos . . . The women are on top (as always) but don't get accustomed to seeing these faces for long given the fact that most reporters want out of this town and onto a bigger market before they lose their looks, give up the will to live or actually start to develop a sense of history about this town.

Two friends of mine have been guests on the show a couple of different times and both say, without a doubt, that Miss Hoenes is vain in an over-the-top Cruella DeVille kind of way and, in their words, "dumb as a stump." In other words, perfect for TV journalism. Next stop: The Today Show.

A little bit of research finds the following aproximate length of local employment for female news personalities (Keep in mind that many of these women did not start their careers in Kansas City):

Fox 4 - 15 years
KMBC 9 - 7 years

A few notables:

Maria Antonia - 23 years
Peggy Breit - 25 years
Bev Chapman - 23 years
Kelly Eckerman - 17 years
Kasren Kornacki - 24 years
Brenda Washington - 22 years
Kim Byrnes - 10 years
Heather Claybrook - 13 years
Meryl Lin McKean - 22 years

I wonder if Tony has ever held a job in journalism as long as any of these old women.

I love how she is so stupid she can't read the simpsons trivia. My favorite is when they have in the middle of the episode telling us some obvious thing about the episode: "This episode featured Stephen Hawking!"

Also it's pretty funny when she gives the trivia answer days later without giving the original question.

"For all you who emailed or wrote in about our trivia question last week, the answer is yellow."

Lemming, in your unwavering attempt to kill a joke you're missing the point. Sure, these broads can work as long as they want but they only have a limited amount of time before they're considered "over-the-hill"

My evidence destroys the joke because it is dependant on unfounded assumptions about women in the TV news business. A joke has to have the ring of truth to be truly funny.

No it doesn't, you're a woman and your vagina does your typing.

Is that true? Because it's funny as hell.

Keep laughing at your own jokes.
