Gunfire Kills Victim At Midtown Kansas City Walgreens On Broadway

A shooting in broad daylight turned deadly this afternoon as this embattled block gets a bit more dangerous.

Here is first note that police share with local media followed by more reporting . . . 

Homicide 3800 block of Broadway

This afternoon just before 2:45pm officers were dispatched to 39th and Broadway to a business parking lot on the north east corner on a shooting call.

On arrival officers were directed to the east side of the parking lot on the northeast corner of 39th and broadway where they located an adult male shooting victim unresponsive there.

Officers called for EMS who responded and transported the victim to the hospital for treatment of life threatening injuries.

People in the area when officers arrived indicated they heard sound of gunshots to the east and then saw the victim walk to the parking lot and collapse where he was located by officers.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are at the scene now processing for all available evidence and canvassing for any witnesses.

Preliminary investigation indicates the shooting took place on the sidewalk in the 200 block of W 39th in the area where witnesses reported hearing gunfire. There is no indication as of yet what led up to the shooting.

There is a reward of up to $25,000 for information submitted anonymously to the TIPS hotline.
