Kansas City Star Doubles Down On Progressive Opinion Amid Decline

Since before the pandemic, newspaper publishing syndicate McClatchy maintains the mantra that opinion journalism drives subscription traffic

The only problem with that theory . . .

Kansas City Star opinion offerings are TOTALLY FOCUSED ON PROMOTING PROGRESSIVE OPINION and that strategy chases away all but the most diehard, old-school Democratic Party loyalists. That's not just a theory, over the past half decade we've seen the newspaper dramatically decline in circulation and relevance in terms of social media and the local discourse.

Online, most local TV news stations have garnered a greater share of the doom-scrolling crowd and with the exception of one public TV weekly show . . . The impact of a newspaper story CLEARLY doesn't resonate as much as it once did.

For Sunday . . . With new opportunities for locals and all manner of randos & paid shill hacks to submit their carefully vetted slop . . .

We notice the dead-tree leaders redoubling their editorial efforts to push their perspective on an audience that's vanishing at a quickening pace.
