Check-it:
"KCATA and United Way are distributing 20,000 free single-day passes to more than 100 nonprofits across the metro. The first batch arrives by the end of next week.
"At Shelter KC, 50% to 75% of clients ride the bus to get services. With their vans already stretched thin, staff face tough choices.
"The new fare system is all-digital. The bus no longer takes cash. KCATA projects $11 million to $15 million in annual revenue now that fares are back."
