
This has been an exceptionally violent week in Kansas City, Missouri as the rate of gunfire & local murders continues to move past last year's pace at the end of Summer.
Here's the latest report . . .
Homicide 500 block of Bales
This evening (9/3/25) just before 6:30 PM officers were dispatched on an EMS/Medical Nature Unknown call to the 500 block of Bales Avenue.
When officers arrived, KCFD paramedics were already on scene and advised officers that an adult male victim had been located, inside of an apartment, unresponsive. Upon further investigation, it was determined the male victim was suffering from apparent gunshot trauma, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There is no preliminary information available at this time to indicate what led up to the shooting. No suspects have been identified at this point and we do not have anyone in police custody.
Homicide detectives and crime scene personnel have responded to begin collecting evidence and gathering witness statements. This is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing at this time.

We are committed to assisting victims of violent crimes through use of Missouri’s Protection Program for Victims/Witnesses of Violent Crime. Funding for temporary, or even permanent relocation, may be available but is subject to pre-approval by the State’s administering agency.
We are working with Partners for Peace in all our homicide investigations to monitor risks for retaliation and provide social services to affected residents.
