Court Dox Claim Legislator Manny Abarca Threw Wife To Ground

This is the top political story for the afternoon and it doesn't look good for the political fate of this progressive Kansas City leader . . .

So far reporting has been careful to share quotes from Mr. Abarca and he has told followers & friends that the "whole truth" will soon emerge . . . Along with a scathing statement from his lawyer.

We picked this quote from a recent report because it seems to offer two sides of the altercation that, sadly, is still playing out in public . . .

The affidavit says Abarca met his wife that day so the two could exchange cars. During the exchange, they started arguing, according to the affidavit.

Abarca's wife was taking items out of the car when Abarca allegedly threw her to the ground, the affidavit states.

"[Abarca's wife] provided cell phone video that showed her retrieving her items from the truck when she is spun around to the ground (in the video Manuel denies throwing her to the ground)," the affidavit reads.

According to the affidavit, police officers contacted Abarca and spoke with him on the phone.

The affidavit says he told officers that he didn't realize his wife was intending to take their child. Abarca told police that as his wife was taking items out of the truck, he pulled her purse back to get her out of the truck—and that's when she rolled backward into the yard.

On June 4, Johnson County Assistant District Attorney Andrew Jennings charged Abarca with one count of domestic battery.
