Clay Chastain Offers Handshake To Mayor Q Amid Deadly & Divisive American Politics

Casual news readers might not understand this note from KC's top transit activist but it's important. 

Why???

As Kansas City's most prolific gadfly, Clay has often been tagged and misrepresented as a threat. Nothing could be further from reality. 

Agree or disagree with him . . . Mr. Chastain has been an integral part of the KCMO conversation and his ideas have helped to shape this town's future. 

So . . .

Extending an olive branch is a BIG MOVE from this local conversation leader . . . Check-it:  

Clay Chastain Press release: Given the foul political wind engulfing America, it is imperative Mayor Lucas & Clay Chastain meet face to face, calm things down & shake hands.

The ugly, on-going political war between Mayor Lucas & Clay Chastain mirrors the Nation.  American politics is so bad & so divisive Americans find themselves shaking fists - not hands. Politicians demonize one another & fuel deranged individuals on the edge of evil to cross over. Our culture is imploding. 

Free-thinking people in a country founded upon free speech are going to (openly) disagree. However, we are now mired in an American Age of Hostility where you do so at your own peril... individuals are vilified, politicians crucified & Minnesota Lawmakers assassinated. We are losing it. The freedom to disagree (peacefully) is the cornerstone of our Republic. We lose that, the house comes down. Watching Americans eat away at one another ("thy poor, Earth-born companion & fellow-mortal") is beyond depressing. If we don't stop disrespecting one another (just because we disagree), we will become the executioners of our own Country. 

I suggest a Court-appointed Mediation Judge conduct a face to face where Mayor Lucas & I communicate our grievances.Then the Mediator could say... I see where the disagreement & hard feelings come from. However, since you both love KC, is there a way to mend political fences, shake hands & be role models for the Nation?

If not, I will (at least) cease with my Harsh & Hostile Communications while awaiting the legal outcome.
