Humorless Kansas City 'Black Comedy Fest' Starts Today

Okay . . . Here's our biggest problem with this event . . .

THERE HAS BEEN GOOD PUBLICITY FOR THE LOCAL BLACK COMEDY FEST WITH TONS OF ARGUMENTS ABOUT EQUITY BUT ABSOLUTELY NO JOKES!!!

This would be okay if we were talking about "black comedy" like cancer jokes or classic one-liners adding bombastic flair to deadly American disasters . . . Instead, this is demographically specific smorgasbord of comics which forgets that even the most racist people have at least one Black comedian they find hilarious because laughter is contagious and tends to unite people across demographic lines . . . Racially-charged marketing . . . Not so much.

Here's the pitch:

Over 40 different comedians will perform in 10 different shows at this weekend’s inaugural Black Comedy Festival KC. The event is scheduled to take place from Thursday, April 25, to Sunday, April 28.

Nine out of the ten festival shows will take place in Kansas City’s historic 18th & Vine District.

Comics, improvisers and sketch artists to feature in Kansas City's first Black Comedy Festival

The first ever Black Comedy Festival KC will take place from April 25-28, mainly in Kansas City's historic 18th & Vine district. Festival organizers say it's the first festival to highlight black comics in the region, as well as the first to feature several different forms of comedy.
