KMBZ IS SHUFFLING PERSONNEL AND ONE OF THEIR BEST SHOWS IS NOW OFF-THE-AIR!!!
The statement just a few minutes ago . . .
The Jonathan Wier Show: "It is with an extremely heavy heart that I am typing these words but...I am no longer employed at KMBZ or Entercom KC. I was let go today. While I am in total shock right now, I want to say that there is absolutely no animosity between me or the staff at KMBZ or our program director who is the best PD that any host could ever ask to have. I also want to say that if you are a podcast listener the show will continue on the podcast. I'm not giving up that easily 😂 -Jonathan
PS: I love you all more than you know. I can't begin to tell you what our time together over the past few years has meant to me, and this definitely isn't the end of that...but maybe it is the beginning of something even better."

He was pretty good on air. His podcast should do fine. BZ is just about over.
ReplyDeleteThis was the worst show on KMBZ. Darla Jaye was way better...bring her back. I often wondered if Wier was on the scale. It was an absolutely terrible show.

DeleteHis Show absolutely sucked and more so after Rod left. If all he could do was stupid top ten lists then he had no reason to be on air.

ReplyDeleteWeir always seemed ok, I just never liked the format of the show and of course Rod has been great on every show he worked on.
ReplyDeleteYou can take Wicket and Parks and Dana and flush them all down the Missouri river for all I care I stopped listening to them over three years ago and somehow feel better every late morning and afternoon since.
Maybe KBZ could bring Kietzman in to fill that time slot, I hear he is available.
I thought he seemed like a nice enough guy. Even though yes, I wasn't a big fan of his show. All he did was talk about pop culture. When Rod was there he should have renamed his show Johnathan Wier Evening Madhouse. It was a glorified morning zoo radio show.
ReplyDeleteThe only time he talked issues, and more importantly, local issues are when it came to legalizing weed. His Friday show was the mail it in show of the week. Do a top ten list for two hours and air a recorded conversation with TKC (At least at first). Talk about what you're going to do over the weekend. Then with 20 minutes left, movie reviewer time. The show is over and it's time to start the weekend.
KMBZ is a shell of what it used to be. They sacrificed Darla Jaye, Rod, Kara and now Wier all to prop up Dana and Parks. Those two and the former, "New Boss" have taken down what was a good station. It will be interesting who gets the axe next. Will Dana and Parks go down with the ship?
Rod coming back??? THAT would be the best thing he could do for his podcast!

The logs are full the ratings are the best they have been in years, don't like the direction find another "free" station.
ReplyDelete^^^^ Ratings say a lot of things. Most of it is just junk to try and get more advertisers to buy in. It's not working any more. The newspapers also say more people are reading now than ever! But I've gone weeks without seeing anybody holding a paper.

ReplyDeleteKMBZ’s business plan appears to be based almost entirely on the concept of dumb people talking about current events. Dana and Parks fits this business plan perfectly.
