Apologies to a couple of the MOST AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS . . . We were gonna post our thoughts on the Kansas City utility line
There have been a lot of questions about a recent City Hall mailer . . .
Thankfully, here are the preliminary facts from Northeast News:
City offers new utility line protection program to homeowners
Money quote:
"The Service Line Warranty Program, which is provided through the National League of Cities and administered by Service Line Warranties of America, will cover water and sewer line repairs up to $4,000 plus an additional allowance of $4,000 for public street or sidewalk cutting, if needed. Homeowners who enroll by Thursday, June 27, can receive a bundled water and sewer line protection package for $120 per year. Homeowners may also choose to sign up for the water line protection package for $61 annually or $5.50 monthly."
Now . . .
HERE'S YET ANOTHER SIGN THAT OWNING REAL ESTATE IN KANSAS CITY IS A BAD INVESTMENT OVERALL GIVEN THIS TOWN'S OLD AND BUSTED PIPES THAT NEED BILLIONS WORTH OF REPAIR!!!
Strangely enough . . . I already know a couple of you d-bags who have sewer line problems that cost upwards of $30k which confirms that renting and planning an escape to a suburb with better sewers might be the smartest move for potential homeowners.
DEVELOPING . . .
Fucking extortion scam these came in the mail in Midtown today.
ReplyDeleteThe Director of Insurance should look into this deal with a market conduct examination.
ReplyDeleteFUCK KC and its crumbling infrastructure - all the city needs is a trolley car for a quarter-billion dollars or so!
ReplyDeleteInsure your shit.
ReplyDeleteAgain, you don't OWN shit! You pay the taxing folks rent and if not, out you go. Oh yeah, you get to pay repairs too... Fuck that ownership crap...It's an illusion.
ReplyDeleteThe most expensive shitpipe in KC is the Mayor!
ReplyDeleteWhat broker is making a mint in commissions on this sweetheart deal? Tony ask for documentation of how this contract was bid?
ReplyDeleteHow about free utility line repairs for taxpayers instead of a streetcar.
ReplyDeleteI's Ron Da King of Insurances and I be written policies for $15K commissions. OOOPS yous have a claim? Says rightcher in da fine print NO CLAIMS ALLOWED. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteThis coverage makes no sense. What about the contractors' surety bond?
ReplyDeleteYou can get cheaper sewer line insurance (and pipe backup insurance) from your homeowner's policy with a rider.
ReplyDeleteSave the Kemper's Arena!
ReplyDeleteKemper made his money while Kansas City crumbled
ReplyDeleteMake fun of Johnson County all you want but this story and the ones above it are why people live. And the schools. Rigged elections, horribly corrupt politicians, and terrible schools. This coming from someone fully aware of Kris Kobach. KCMO is broken and all corrupt.
ReplyDeleteLeft out the word "here" after live in the first sentence in the post above. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteYup, you idiots just keep listening to those lying, stinking realtors, about how homeownership is so great. It's only great for them, the tax collector and ALL those vendors you'll have to pay to keep the property up. Think about it.
