TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! 5TH DISTRICT CANDIDATE AND KANSAS CITY E-TAX FIGHTER MAHLON DAVIS JR. DIDN'T MAKE IT ON THE BALLOT ALONG WITH FOUR OTHER CITY COUNCIL CANDIDATES!!!

There were a lot of late filings this time around . . . This is one consequence from a promising candidate who didn't have enough signatures in the end.
Turns out Mahlon Davis Jr. didn't make it on the ballot. He just received news a few minutes ago. This is disappointing for opponents of the E-Tax because Mahlon really impressed a lot of people at the UMKC forum last night and he was making waves for his serious opposition to the E-Tax.
UPDATE: MAHLON DAVIS JR. IS STILL RUNNING AS A WRITE-IN CANDIDATE!!!
Expect more candidates to get the bad news today OR a confirmation. TRACY WARD the other E-Tax opponent had her signatures CONFIRMED today in a preliminary call.
Other candidates who turned in signitures but didn't make the City Council ballot:
Carol J. Gatlin - 3rd District At-Large
Mona Lyne - 4th District
Ron D. Birmingham - 5th District
Adnan Bayazid - 6th District
Consequence:
JAN MARCASON IS NOW UNOPPOSED IN THE 4TH DISTRICT!!!
So, just a quick reminder that turning in signatures early makes a difference when it comes to local Democracy. Thanks to the very helpful City Clerk Vickie Thompson for confirming these names.
Mahlon should do a write in to WIN!!!! Circo needs to GO!!
ReplyDeleteToo bad for Mona, we should at least have a choice in the 4th.
ReplyDeleteI guess the Uncle Tom learned that it was not enough to copy names out of the phone book in crayon to get your name on the ballot.
ReplyDeleteTony is right, Mahlon did a good job last night. Good luck to him as a write-in.
ReplyDelete2:40 - it would be nice to have a choice, but no one should be surprised when a person sits around until the last day to file. I have a sneaking suspicion that Ms. Lyne was recruited by some of Marcason's detractors very late in the game. She clearly wasn't very serious about wanting the job or she would have started much earlier.
ReplyDeleteVery surprised about Mona. She told everyone she had been thinking about it for a long time.
ReplyDeleteThinking and doing are two different things. If you are not will willing to make decisions and work hard, you SHOULDN'T be there.
ReplyDeleteWho gives a shit how the candidates feel about the eTax. Hopefully there are enough intelligent folks and retired folks who pay NO eTax and will get out and vote.
ReplyDeleteJan sure is posting a lot on here
ReplyDeleteMona Lyne didn't get it? Interesting. Did Labor support Jan?
ReplyDeleteGood luck to Mahlon in his write-in candidacy. Keep up the fight!
ReplyDeleteMahlon, hang it up for now and take time to study. You have to command respect for the position. I have three issues with Mahlon. He doesn't looks like he can command the office. His stance on the E-Tax is deplorable because he has no viable alternative. Finally, he waited till the last minute to turn in his signatures. Give it four years and come back fighting. But come back polished, astute, and with a better effort!
ReplyDeleteMona IS running as a write-in candidate. She will need 500 signatures to be placed on the March 22nd Ballot. Mona had been thinking about running for a while and WAS NOT recruited to run. She is an amazing woman, and running as a CONCERNED CITIZEN!
ReplyDeleteHe is my Rahm Emmanuel.
ReplyDeleteToo bad about Mona. Jan is an insipid little troll who sucks up to the power brokers in this town...once again, we are left without a choice. Any citizen should be able to run for office without jumping through such hoops.
ReplyDelete11:58 you have a choice
ReplyDeleteon FEB 22
WRITE IN
4th In-District
MONA LYNE
What a dipshit, how would anyone want someone that can't even accomplish simply being placed on the ballot to be intelligent enough to make decisions for the City. All the hoopla is now put into perspective because the 'new school' candidates are being shown their incompetence by failing to handle the real world.
ReplyDeleteYou beat me to it, 10:24.
ReplyDeleteA guy who isn't smart enough to count signatures, and I'm asked to write his name in?
