Full disclosure. There are more jobs available than people willing, WILLING, to work them. My friend owns a landscaping business in Lee's Summit. He pays, to start, $14.00 an hour and can't get any white or black employees to work, or, if they show up, they quit soon. He had to go to Texas and fill out paperwork with lawyers to bring up 15 or so Latinos to work. They are still with him.
ReplyDeleteThere needs to be a balance between what's good for consumers and what's good for American citizen workers...for far too long the system has been catering to corporate bottom lines and low consumer prices with zero consideration for American workers wages and job security. Low prices are nice but if the consequence is very low wages and a continuously loose labor market what good is it for the middle-class? Cheap goods become a necessity because families can't afford anything else on what they're earning and it requires both parents working full time just to keep the lights on and cheap food on the table with fewer families even able to consider owning their own home.
The borders MUST be controlled. That said, the truth is the truth and those efforts to acquire labor for his business are emblematic of what is going on in many places in the US.
Control over the border and the correct paperwork and control over those here in the US, is necessary, justified and logical.
