TKC MUST SEE!!! KANSAS CITY EVICTION MOVIE TARGETS SLUMLORDS AMID AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS!!!

A movie detailing the horrors of the Kansas City housing crisis is the most important local content published this week.

Sponsored by the Healthcare Foundation and viewers like you . . . Watching the movie you'd think KCMO was in the process of developing strategies for coping with so much human suffering. However, slightly discounted luxury condos is all that Mayor & Council have come up with so far.

Even worse, activists, volunteers and non-profits have witnessed the heartbreaking impact of Kansas City's housing crisis which has inspired them to dream up impractical legislation to crack down on small time property owners in a paradoxical effort that will only ensure even less housing stock is available to low-income residents.

Accordingly, here's the description of the short movie:

"America’s eviction problem is now being described as an epidemic. Our half-hour documentary, “Evicted,” takes an in-depth look at the issue across the Kansas City metro through the lives of those most affected."

  1. Just kicking the can down the road.

Mayor uninterested in dealing with the problem.

    Council doesn't care.

So we might as well make landlords pick up the tab.

  2. Right, 11:38, they were all living in palaces until a year and a half ago. Truth is, the conditions were the same, but nobody would bring up the issue while Obama was President, lest it displease His Highness.

  3. Actions do indeed have consequences.

Surely there are agencies who can help pay rent for the absolutely needy; however, one doesn't get to live rent free and landlords aren't about to evict someone who is paying their rent reliably. So it sounds to me that perhaps these folks need some sort of rental subsidy; but that can't be used to buy a lot of extra amenities, cell phones, tv, cable. 11:43 is right, they weren't living in palaces before Trump so casting blame on our President is shortsighted, it has been a continuing problem. You cannot ask a property owner to forego a profit on his investment; you expect a tenant to pay a fair rent; and when you don't pay that rent you get evicted. You can make a thousand documentaries about this issue, but if you can't afford the place, move to a cheaper one, find charitable income to assist in paying the rent, move in with a relative, but do something....don't just wait for eviction and then complain about being evicted. And for you bleeding hearts who want to help by forcing rent control and various other legislation onto property owners, why don't you tithe to your local charities who will help the needy pay their rent, then problem solved....no eviction and you will feel so much better about yourself.

  4. And I am not defending slumlords. They should be held to a higher standard for public health reasons, sue them, there is legal aid to assist in that....but you can't just stop paying rent and expect not to be evicted.

  5. Sensible people know the failures happen on both sides. There are some slumlords who are negligent and greedy, while there are some scammy occupants who are nasty and gibsmes. When the two entities are joined, decent types don't want to be living near that FUBAR filth.

  6. Yeah, fucking sleazy gibmes negroes living off working humans backs. Go live in a mud hut.

  15. With all the millions from the hospital sale, the Health Foundation has unfortunately allowed itself to become just another big pot of money for anyone with a "cause" dialing for dollars.
First hundreds of thousands for Aim4Peace.
    And now this.
If you're creative enough, everything can be made into a "health" issue.
Why not clean up Brush Creek?
