SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! WHILST FORMER KANSAS CITY STAR NEWSIES LAMENT HER JOURNALISM EMPLOYMENT, HACK HOOPZ PROCLAIMS: OPRAH STILL TRUMPS NEW BLACK PRINCESS!!!
Because the MSM news cycle is mostly dedicated to trials, travails and obsessions of middle-class women . . . Lives of the super rich across the pond dominated headlines for consumers wanting to learn more about their betters.
Accordingly . . .
There are actually moments of brilliance in the latest column from Hoopz on the topic of today's Royal Wedding and dating life for minorities.
However, her money line is not only cringe worthy but also calls into question why Hoopz continues to draw a salary when so many other better newspaper scribes have been cast aside:
"Why are we upholding the idea that being a wife makes Meghan matter more? Oprah isn't married. You mean to tell me wifehood makes someone more inspirational than Oprah. Hella sexist. A royal putting a ring on it doesn't validate Meghan. It doesn't make her any more whole than she already was."
Certainly, global media coverage is mistaken and this wedding wasn't really a big deal.
TKC doesn't actually disagree.
But if we're gonna talk about inspiring, single women of color . . .
Hottie Selita Ebanks is actually far more newsworthy.
Nevertheless, here's the salty fun goodness for Saturday night . . .
Amid the latest round of layoffs and worsening financial fortunes for The Kansas City Star and its parent company: Behind the scenes, local unemployed journalists grow increasingly frustrated with the work of Hoopz.
Whenever we mention her latest hit piece, there's always a great deal of envy and hateration directed toward the newspaper's "woman about town" The chatter is less relevant on sleepy lesser blogs and largely ignored social media accounts but it's there for anybody who bothers to look. To be fair, newspaper advice, grammar correction and analysis from reporters who have been out of work for years is always great for a laugh . . .
In much the same way that today's "royal" wedding served mostly as a distraction for plebs across the globe who don't want to think about the harsh reality of worsening income inequality.
And all of this inspires our playlist tonight . . .

I'm not a fan of all of this Royal wedding stuff either but I will say this about the Kansas City newspaper. When we look back at the decisions that precipitated it's eventual closure. I think offering Ms. Osterheldt as one of their leading pundit will rank rather high.

ReplyDeleteI really don't care if Prince Harry got married or not and to who. What and who he marries is his choice not the publics. He had Grandma’s blessing or it would have never happened you can bank on that. As many have pointed out it would take a bomb going off in the right place at a family meeting for Prince Harry to ever get to sit and rule anything. So to be concerned as in will he be the ruler of England really doesn’t enter the picture and far more important local issues to me are of a greater concern. The guy could have stayed single and been a roaming playboy all his life and had his pick of many women along the way. But his Grandma like all other Grandma’s was probably urging him to settle down marry and start adding heirs to the royal family.
ReplyDeleteUpon reading what Hoopz has to say one has to wonder if in some small way if she is pissed someone like Meghan got the golden ring in life while she is stuck spreading her hate in Kansas City. I mean come on she even went so far as to say they both share a lot in common (which I don’t see at all).
But as always only Hoopz and other media can take what should be two peoples biggest happiest day in their lives and turn it into their personal podium to make racists based comments and to point out certain race facts while as always leaving out the hard core truth pertaining to any of it. This was a wedding of two people not a wedding of a white person to a half black person. The slavery comments I have seen are totally out of line and well completely irrelevant to the future of the new royal couple. One has to wonder what the Hoopz and the media would have had to say if Harry’s new wife had been a unknown full blooded poor girl from India?
So to Prince Harry and Meghan I say congratulations may you have a wonderful life with one another.

I think the queen is disappointed to have a black in the woodpile, but she would have been criticized if she had vetoed it. The bride brings a whole new meaning to the term “common,” but it’s virtually impossible that any of her potential offspring would ever be on the throne.
