TAKE COVER!!! KANSAS CITY LEGENDARY WEATHER LADY KATIE HORNER RETURNS!!!

A welcomed return as the the tornado season of panic starts . . .

Here's the word from a local media blog:

"Katie Horner former KCTV Chief Meteorologist has been spotted shooting promos this week at KMBC.

The promos are featuring Horner with the morning news Anchors. No offcial announcement yet, but it's just a matter of time. Horner was a fixture at KCTV in Kansas City for 17 years. She joined the station in 1994 and became chief meteorologist in 1998."

She was booted in the midst of a great many old school grouches complaining about her weather panic . . . But then everybody immediately missed her antics.

Given that the weather is mostly a guessing game amid global climate change . . . This is good news.

You decide . ..

  4. Give her a break. She was following orders on the "panic" situation. Come on, weather in this part of the country cannot be predicted. Anyone who has lived here for more than a year knows that.

  5. Yyyyyyeeeesssss!!!! The world is right again!!

  6. Welp there goes KMBC

  7. @8:05, not quite. The weather is fairly easy to predict. The more hysterical they are, the more likely it is to be nothing. The less hysterical they are, the closer they are to the predicted weather. Or just subscribe to a commercial forecaster or just listen to noaa on 137.5(don't have my radio near so not fully sure).

    1. There's nothing in Kansas City to run off. Kansas City does a few things very well, otherwise it's main goal all along is to try to be like Wichita, which is trying to be like Kansas City. The fews things Kansas City does extremely well are: 1) Steaks (2 BBQ (3 Feeding The Poor/Homeless (4 Issuing Parking Tickets/Not Solving The Ongoing Parking Problem That It's Had Since It's Inception (5 Discouraging New And Existing Businesses (6 Corruption, primarily geared around construction

    2. I lived in Wichita for 19 years and have gone back frequently during the 25 years I've lived in Kansas City for 25 years now and i have a question. Wth are you talking about?!

  9. Watch out Channel 9 men she might be looking for hubby #4 and won't care if you're married or not. Hasn't stopped it yet.

  11. 9L29 I'd wager the Channel 9 women aren't real thrilled either.
Nobody wears a pair of "mom" jeans quite like Katie. Can't wait to see the fake respect she gets from Donna Pittman. That'll be a great cat fight.

  12. Her plumbing company must have failed.

  13. When I called for her return a couple of weeks ago it was sarcasm, not a real call for her return.

  14. Who cares but those with IQ's vying with retarded earthworms for supremacy? Television in America, no matter the venue is earmarked for the braindead, brianwashed, tyranny-embracing, stand-for-nothing, know-nothing, care-about-nothing-of-value-and-meaning-and-wouldn't-recognize-it-in-the-first-place, principlesness, totally worthless morons known as the vast majority of the American people. TV in the US has absolutely zero content that smacks of any value, quality, class, intelligence, informative value, etc. That's why millions of Americans watch sitcoms-with-fake-laughter, watch the news which is propaganda, as read from a CIA mandated script, etc. I could go on here for years.......

  15. I went skydiving! I wrote a book! Watch the news so I can tell you how great I am, we don't give you any real stories or weather forecasts anyway!

  16. I work in the emergency management field and recently had the opportunity to meet Katie Horner. I found her to be a very caring individual and truly concerned about the safety of those individuals in the path of a storm. If you have ever seen (in person) the devastation caused by a tornado (think Joplin, Missouri and Greensburg, Kansas) it will make you think twice about what is important. Seeking shelter and surviving or finding out who gets the next rose on The Bachelor? I have seen that devastation, and had to work the recovery end of those disasters when all people have left of their house is a pile of debris. To me it is a no brainer.

I am sure all of you have done things in life you wish you could have done differently or better. Remember there are always two sides to the story. How many of you have worked at a TV station and know how they operate? Why don't you give Katie a break and give her a clean slate. Everyone in life deserves a second chance. Why don't you give Katie Horner one?

    1. Agree completely. I’ve met her as well and she is a great person.

It was never her decision to keep breaking in on tv shows- that is the producer’s call. KCTV was trying to get better ratings by creating that persona for her.

    2. Katie Horner is the most extensively trained meteorologist in Kansas City. I don't have to like her personally (even tho I do) to appreciate her qualifications and I can't blame her for the Channel 5 management decision to ram her diwn our throats. Simply put: she's the BEST. Welcome back Katie.

I seldom get worked up over local media clowns but I draw the line with Katie Horner. Who did she f**k to get back on KC TV? Bringing her back will bring KC 7 years of bad weather. Did Channel 9 lose a weatherperson? Anyone is a better choice than that grinning hag. I will admit we did have bets going whenever the weather got sour when she hogged the limelight at Channel 5 as to how quickly she would grab the controls away from whoever was covering weather at that time and start bouncing around the studio like a super ball. Is she finally past child bearing age? I recall she dropped a new baby every 9 months and barely missed her regular evening forecasts. Gee thanks KMBC for ruining my golden years. Just change the name from KC to Hell on Earth.

  21. Please God don't let it be true! My sister text me this morning and said she was on channel 9. Did she go to weather school and properly learn how to give the weather without being panicked? I will totally boycott that or any station that hires her.

  22. As far as second chances go, I think more time would have to pass. She has only been gone from KC airwaves for 7 years. Katie Horner Frightens Me Unnecessarily.

  23. To the person that works in emergency management defending Horner because tornadoes are devastating, you should also be well aware that warnings only work when people listen to and heed them. When someone like Horner turns EVERY storm into an emergency, then viewers eventually learn to see NO storm as an emergency. NO ONE was ignored more than Horner, and when she wasn't being ignored, she was being laughed at for telling us we should sleep in bike helmets in case the ceilings fell on our heads. Frankly, she put people in danger because no one could ever tell what really WAS an emergency.
