ReplyDeleteWouldn't call this a robbery so much as it looks like just some basic shrinkage via snatching. The sad thing is is that Crooks see other Crooks get away with this kind of crime and then it just becomes rampant and more of a problem. Look at the Price Chopper in Brookside where they actually shot a kid for stealing because they were so beset by thieves all through the day and night. It was a pretty big deal and they were subject to a few protests but it did stop the shoplifting for a while. This is why we see food deserts east of Troost and a lack of viable retail options. If u want real, stable economic growth, the security always has to be in place.

DeleteGee whiz. I remember the plaza in the early 1980s when it was crime-free. Then in the late 80s and early 90s and there was ZERO crime, and you could walk around the Plaza holding a stack of 100s and no one would even look at you twice, or leave your car unlocked with the key in the ignition (and running!) and damn if tomorrow ain't Monday and four hours later your car would still be where you left it, unlocked, running, with the keys in it.

Gosh, folks, if we could only turn back time because I think that's the ONLY POSSIBLE SOLUTION.

I was told by a Commissioner there, their system is "corky & they can only do so much with what they got"... No, the system is broken & they either... Wait until the kid ages out(so they no longer have to deal with them), they get murdered(homicide reorts are easier to write than helping the kid) or the child commits a felony & gets charged as an adult... Our system for our youth has been destroyed! They have no support or redirection! Our city is in shambles because of US!! Until we fix the juvenile system our city & our youth will remain in shambles!!
