Kansas City's new fire chief promises to improve communication, monitor overtime pay

KANSAS CITY, Mo.-- For the first time as the city's top firefighter, Kansas City, Mo. Fire Chief Gary Reese faced Kansas City council members to talk about his department. "We're averaging, I don't know if we've looked at it this way, about 10 calls an hour every day," Reese said.

  1. He can cut back all the OT he wants as long as people quit calling 911 at the same time. But since that's not realistic, that means something has got to suffer.

  3. Fire and police jobs are some of the cushiest. They have been exploiting overtime for decades, it's similar to the way some families and communities exploit ebtitlements. Learned and passed on.

Fire fighters put out a fire and then yell and scream about how they are heroes! Go fuck yourself. It's called doing the job you chose. No one is happy just doing their job and shutting the fuck up anymore. So sad!

  4. if you would quit calling the fire department because you cant figure out the beep coming from your 30 year old smoke detector. Thing is we have to come solve your problems because your parents didn't teach you enough skills in life.

  5. I once accidentally cut off a firetruck in traffic, even waved acknowledging my mistake and the firetruck started tailgating me and engaged in road-rage-like behavior. I was like, of course, this is who they are, teenager dudes in 30 and 40 year old bodies. I almost called the police, but I figured I would make the cop nervous because I was using $10 words and he'd shoot me.

  6. That chief is a fat fuck. That is not the body of someone who does any work. I mean, seriously.
