TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! LOOSE PARK HOMES ASSOCIATION PLEADS WITH KANSAS CITY POLICE CHIEF FOR MORE PROTECTION AMID INCREASED CRIMINAL ACTIVITY!!!

Right now we're offering a reality check on a crown jewel of Kansas City which also confronts an increase in crime like the rest of the city.

Here's an important word that our blog community wanted us to highlight . . .

I am the President of the Loose Park Homes Association. We learned that last Sunday afternoon there were several shots fired in the Park. This frightening act is another of the increasingly problematic and potentially criminal activities in the Park. Obviously this is quite alarming to our Association. We have learned that this occurred as young children were crossing the Park to play with friends. Surely this is unacceptable to the Park’s neighbors as well as those simply enjoying the Park.

We are pleased that so many in the City enjoy Loose Park, but the heightened criminal influx necessitates increased police presence at a minimum.

Please provide me with the steps you are taking to deal with the criminal activity in Loose Park so that I can disseminate it to our Association members. We expect to be safe in our own homes, and when we spend time in the Park.

Developing . . .

  1. A lot of KCMo parks are facing the same problem. Looks like criminals are looking for refuge and think the parks will provide them safety. Hopefully they are wrong.

    1. Really bad deal here for Loose park. Agree that it is a crown jewel of Kansas City. This kind of problem hopefully won't impact all of the weddings they have coming up in the Spring and Summer but definitely have noticed a rougher element in the past few years, especially around the children's play area unfortunately.

Except for their own salaries and pensions.

If you have the highest world population of prisoners as an economic policy, that is a lot of pissed off people caused by 'casting too wide a net', as prez billy fessed, and cops are supposed to ameliorate for safety, ha.

  8. They should be pleading with the City Manager, and City Council to increase staffing of the KCPD. This is a direct result of three different $15 Million budget cuts in under 10 years that resulted in 100 law enforcement staff positions being eliminated.

  15. Notwithstanding the unhelpful comments, KCMO does need to nip this problem in the bud. It's related to the Plaza situation.

If civil order breaks down, every law-abiding citizen will be moving to Olathe.

    ReplyDelete
  16. "Nipping problems in the bud" is not exactly KCMO government's forte'.
In fact, seriously and honestly identifying the source of the problems and addressing them at all is more par for the course.
The wilding in the Plaza has gone on for many years and over five years ago the current mayor actually dived into Plaza shrubbery when shots were fired, so the notion he's unaware of what's happening seems unlikely.
Murders in the city have regularly topped 100 and last year the 150 homicides were the second highest on record, and over 50% of the murders in New York, a city with a population over 17 times the size of KCMO.
These ever-increasing public safety concerns have not been and are not being seriously addressed, in spite of many tens of millions of dollars spent each year on "programs", unaccountable and totally ineffective nonprofits, and out-of-town nonsense like NoVa.
Without serious leadership and some moral courage, problems like this just continue to fester and metastasize.
Loose Park is just the next domino.
    Good luck.

  21. 144 officers down over the last 10 years. The people around Loose Park and Ward Parkway have ignored the fact that the mayor championed the reduction of police staff. Sly James is the architect of the creation of the smallest police department over the last 15 years. Loose Park and surrounding neighborhoods better prepare themselves. Congratulations to Sly and the council, you are responsible for the increase in city wide crime problems.

  22. Poor white meth heads like to sit around a twitch, sneak up to black folks and whisper in their ear 'why can't you read n*gger', and think nothing is going to happen.

  23. If the Loose Park HOA want to be protected from The hoi polloi they need to hire their own security force.

  24. What's really needed is for a couple of badass cops that can be there 24 / 7 patrolling the area . Maybe just their presence could be a deterrent to the invasion of the Killa city douchebag inner city youth scholar's hood rats that want to rob rape mugg beatdown and jack at will !

  25. I feel sorry for the residents of Loose Park/Sunset Hill/Ward Pkwy. They shoulder a heavy load of taxation and still have to endure subpar levels of city services. Random shots being fired in the area is a scary thing. I hope the PD will step up in this instance.

  26. Lots of open racism in these posts. It's disheartening to see so many people whose only response to anything seems to be based on hatred and fear of the other. Xenophobia has and will never be the solution to any social issue and the fact that so many people feel emboldened to express such inhumane viewpoints is as much of a denunciation of our current political climate than anything else. It seems to be lost on you that we are all human beings and what's worse, most of you don't even care.

    1. I think people need a place to vent. The reality is that MOST people want a safe park for ALL of Kansas City. It’s not about Republicans or Democrats. It's about right and wrong.

    2. I understand your sentiments, but I also think people have unrealistic expectations about diversity. Even though the MSM likes pinning the current racial climate on Trump, I don’t think there is any more racism than there has always been, people just seem to be more open about it nowadays. I think one of the biggest mistakes is forcing diversity and integration on people. These are personal choices that need to be arrived at willingly rather than being mandated.

Middle of the day, around other kids, smoking weed in the open. Fine role models they are. There of course wasn't a baby-daddy in site.

  31. All those rich liberals wanted “the Troost wall” tore down. Well, since Ferguson we now have what is called ghetto creep. This is where blacks, usually younger blacks, drive themselves into new territory, ie; white neighborhoods. They then see what they can get away with. After noting the lack of police presence they have some fun and tell their friends. Now neighbors have noticed and started calling police but its too late This is a losing battle. Crime rates go up and property values go down. White flight ensues and rentals begin showing up like a cancer. The neighborhood home values plummet and blacks take advantage of the low prices and move in. This, my friends, is how ghettos are made.

There are almost no rentals in this area. It is one of the most expensive in all of KCMO with housing prices at more than $500,000 easily. @10:15 doesn't know anything about KC and probably never lived here, just some old desperate racist looking for attention. Your using an out of date playboy that doesn't apply and literally spreading ignorance. Loose Park isn't going downhill, just asking for help. The foolish race paradigm would have the suckers belive that the neighborhood is desperate bUT it's really just flexing political muscle. Grow up troll. You are out of your depth.

    3. 10:15’s post may not be shiny and happy, but it does include some truth. Am I implying that Loose Park will be a low-rent ghetto soon? No. But there was a time when many nice neighborhoods in KCMO probably never believed it would happen to them either and it did.

This is the type of complaining that happens when all those rich liberals have the tugs and crime from the ghetto encroach into their safe place and they have to deal with it. Everything is fine with the rich liberals as long as it doesn't affect them. This type of complaining is common all over the country.

Slie will not do anything except send in ANTIFA. Deal with it like the deplorables have to.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Slie does not care about the Kansas City crime rate, the River Market, the infastructure or any of the neighborhoods.

All Slie cares about is the toy train, the failed airport bid, and getting his palms greased or getting something greased.

  40. I have no knowledge of what's going on in Loose Park but know a lot of people that live in the area. When I say that I live south of 75th street, I'm commonly told that I live in the "suburbs" (with their nose turned up), they prefer living in the city, they like more diversity, homes with character, culture, etc., etc. They send their kids to private schools, don't go east of Holmes, and stick up their nose if someone where to mention a restaurant or shopping experience south of 75th street - as if it's impossible for a fine meal to be prepared south of 75th street! I find it irritating that this HOA that enjoys a relatively crime rate by KCMO standards wants police resources diverted from areas of THEIR city that are in real need.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The reason I am a Refugee from KCMO Crime, and moved to Shawnee was a park...shootings at the bottom of the hill on Karnes Blvd. in 1992--between Coleman Highlands and Valentine HOA's. Feral yutes played basketball, and used guns. The KCPD's solution? Take down the NETS!!! I said, "oh, yeah, that'll fool 'em."

We also had a dyslexic Mexican gang that shot up the front windows of a 90 year old couple on 33rd St. They had the address wrong, were seeking vengeance against a rival gang member --same house number, but 33rd TER. I hate it when that happens. The KCPD's advice to the grandma and grandpa? "I think you should just go thru your living room on your hands and knees."

So--expect KCPD to take out the teeter totter and slides at Loose Park. That'll solve it.

Don't forget, liberals, to vote for the extension of the Toy Train.
The Clockwork Orange Express. Faster free exit to bus stops at 39th and downtown.

  43. ^^^ typical civil libtard. No class, siding with the low feeders and against anyone who respects law and order.

  44. We have lived on a street across from a large public park for 15 years. When we started to notice the increase in the noise levels, cars filled with speakers, the increase in crime took off. Gangs hanging out selling drugs and splitting up stolen loot openly while their children play on the playground equipment are a daily occurrence while their tunes blast all over the park. No one does anything because it its perfectly fine and great for those who can drive on by.

The webpage for this park shows a peaceful and fun family environment. Park directors and park boards are worthless political hacks. They could care less about the people dealing with this crap. Paying increased property taxes to ensure these flunkies can have a credit card, car allowances, first class trips to conventions or rather shopping trips. Paying taxes to make our lives a living hell. Thanks for nothing.

Good point Tracy, to see Coleman Highlands, Hyde Park, Plaza Dist., Countryside Ext. and Wornall Homestead areas go down is a tragedy, if this keeps up. Loose Park is everyone's place to go, or not? Sad to see this happen!
