THE DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY PARKING CRACKDOWN BEGINS WITH THE BIG 12 & EPIC FINES CONFRONTING MOTORISTS UNLUCKY ENOUGH TO EARN A TICKET!!!
We talked about the private parking KCMO shock troops soon to be cruising downtown in search of violators and then Northeast News quickly offered even more deets on the plan.
And now . . .
BIG 12 DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY PARKING PRICE GOUGING ALONG WITH STRINGENT ENFORCEMENT CREATES AN OPPRESSIVE MAZE FOR ANYONE WHO DARES TO DRIVE NEAR THE LOOP TODAY!!!
The roads closed starting today pretty much make access to anything near the Sprint Center impossible . . .

For better or worse . . .
TODAY THE DOWNTOWN KANSAS CITY BIG 12 PARKING CRISIS BEGINS!!!
What's important for residents & voters is that this crackdown is merely a preview of hostility toward drivers that now defines Downtown Kansas City life and stifles small biz in order to provide more revenue directly to City Hall.
Developing . . .
I guess we're going to need 25 million parking spaces?
ReplyDeleteMaybe they can ride the streetcar. There's only a 45 minute wait today and a good chance that it'll be broken down about half the time.
Delete$55 parking near downtown KC this morning.
DeleteNO THANKS!
Park and ride the bus is a better option than this entire mess.
^^^ watching from a nice bar with expensive import draughts is a much better idea. You don't have to deal with the Iowa fans AND get a much better view.
ReplyDeleteThose Iowa fans can all kick your ass, cunt
DeleteWait...I'm confused. I thought it was the crime that threaten the Big 12? Now it's the parking? My God, what's next! Hint: nothing. This isnt new it happens every year. Here's a secret: Most fans don't park. They Uber from their hotels!!! Ding ding ding! Do some research!
ReplyDelete^^^ 25 million fans are going to enjoy the big 12 today.
ReplyDeleteIf your theory was correct, they wouldn't be price gouging the parking spaces today. Sorry but your Visit KC propaganda doesn't work here. We know B.S. @8:32 is paid for by Team Sly. I know you're a sellout that works for sly because you think 150 murders a year is no big deal.
Now go ride the streetcar and get a latte to help pay for your half wit job.
Just a quick word of advice for women who try and pick up their car after it has been towed. Bring a male friend along and keep your cell phone handy so you don't get raped.
ReplyDeleteSeriously for sports fans of any kind, you're always better off to watch it on television. This comes from years of dealing with traffic, drunks and The Menagerie of assholes that loose themselves on society after a ball game game. As far as $55 parking goes that's just insane. It's almost like they don't want the business downtown.
ReplyDeleteYou Streetcar critics will probably hate me more than you already do, but when it comes to attending events like this at Sprint Center, the Streetcar can be advantageous. Instead of paying a high price to park in the garage next to Sprint, park for free at 3rd and Grand and ride the streetcar for free to 12th and Main then walk 2 blocks to Sprint. Reverse course afterwards. Even if you don’t agree with the whole premise of having built the Streetcar in the first place, it’s here now so you might as well use it and take advantage of it
ReplyDeleteJoey, nobody hates you. I like it when you post. You are a douche bag occasionally but that’s ok.
DeleteOr there’s the Main Street Max that also goes between 3rd and Grand, and downtown. $3 round trip.
ReplyDeleteNot a big deal. Park your car elsewhere and take a cab or a Uber to the Sprint Center. Watch on TV if you want, but it's more exciting in person.
ReplyDeleteHow many parking spots at 3rd and Grand? Curious
ReplyDeleteQuick question: Anybody on here ever been to the Sprint Center when there's a concert or sporting event? Hmm? Because it seems like none of you ever have. If you had, you would know where to park to avoid the absorbent fees (there are FREE parking spaces if you know where to look)and you would also know where to park where you can Uber for next to nothing. This is NOT a problem. Only the shut-ins who have never been imagine it to be.
ReplyDeleteYep, exactly. Have you all ever been to other cities -- they do the same. Plenty of people will pay for it. Those complaining about it obviously won't be attending. No problem here -- and yes! Many free street slots within a few blocks.
DeleteWell tell us wise one^^^^
ReplyDelete^^God no. I don't want you taking my space.
ReplyDeleteThe bigger the event the bigger the reasons to avoid the area.
ReplyDeleteYes lots of free places where the hoods are waiting to case your car to see if anything worth stealing
ReplyDeleteLooks like all local streets closed. That effect free street slots 10:19?
ReplyDeleteThe Chefs get $60 and the Royalettess get $40 so what's wrong with these
ReplyDeleteBlue bikes.
ReplyDeleteFor the win!
@10:59AM-duh. They close the Streets EVERY YEAR! This changes nothing. Spots are ALWAYS available.
ReplyDeleteIv'e gone to the tournament for years, always parked in a free spot. Not once was my car, or any nearby cars broken into. Maybe get outside, see for yourself. You shut-ins have zero idea what you're talking about!
ReplyDeleteAnd you do ?
DeleteSeveral years ago and decades before I moved to KC the city was known regionally for being a first class shit hole when it came to cab fares, parking and towing scams. Since then the city has done absolutely nothing to fix parking issues. We always have one to remodel convention facilities or swindle a new hotel, but by God KC can not create a single incentive to build parking facilities. Instead KC government jobs the crooks and takes it's kickbacks from cab companies, tow operators and rakes it in on parking fines. To this day when I speak on the phone to acquaintances who have been to KC for events I am still asked if KC is still a den of thieves when it comes to these things. I can only say that it has gotten worse.
ReplyDelete^^Wrong. You are very clearly out of touch and out of date. Nobody, and I mean nobody cabs it anywhere in this city. Uber, 1010 cab(I know..it's a rideshare, not a cab) have the monopoly.
ReplyDeletePlease pay attention to Tony's warning. Don't park on 3rd and Grand and take the Streetcar. The city knows that game. The have parking fees at that location now and if the meter is not paid every hour - you get towed!
ReplyDeleteIf you park in a lot, don't put your valuables in the trunk. The hobos sit on the hill overlooking the lots and see who is putting valuables in their trunk. That's how they know which trunk to pop open once your leave your car.
I'M AFRAID TO LEAVE THE HOUSE NOW AND LIVE MY LIFE WHAT'LL HAPPEN TO ME?
ReplyDeleteSo what was downtown's reaction to being threatened by parking crackdown? Did downtown fight back? Did the parking crackdown balk and allow downtown to pass? Pants-shitting geezers are dying to know!
ReplyDelete"The roads closed starting today pretty much make access to anything near the Sprint Center impossible . . . "
ReplyDeleteReally? A couple of closed blocks to cars renders it impossible?
Everyone in KC has broken legs or gets too winded to walk a few blocks?
I'm confident that the TKC crowd will at least have their Rascal scooters fully charged to conquer the streets if they cared about basketball. Or could afford a game ticket.
Jack the Ripper also seen leaving one of the downtown parking garages. Decapitations soon to follow.
ReplyDeleteTake the streetcar. HAHAHAHA
ReplyDeleteTake the bus, problem solved.
