TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! KCMO CONFLICTED ON GUN CONTROL AFTER FLORIDA SCHOOL SHOOTING TRAGEDY!!!

In the aftermath of one of the deadliest school shootings the nation has ever witnessed, there still is no consensus on the future of gun control in Kansas City or throughout the nation.

While there is overwhelming KCMO urban core and Midtown support for gun control those efforts are typically SMACKED DOWN by Jeff City and far more Conservative Missouri Statehouse lawmakers. Over the past few years there has been little compromise or progress in local demand for increased gun regulation.

Instead, we notice locals aligning themselves with like-minded individuals in order to reinforce their opinions.

Here are a few examples . . .

Plaza Anti-Gun Protest Is A Local Tradition After Tragedy

Group gathers in KC to memorialize victims of Florida shooting, discuss solutions

A woman in Everett, Washington, was looking through her grandson's journal Monday night when she found something that would forever change her view of him. Gun Rights Proponents Put Their 2nd Amendment Freedom Into Practice With Despite Calls For Reform

KCI Expo Center hosts gun show while rally on the Plaza pays tribute to Florida shooting vitims

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- On Saturday, Kansas City was the tale of two cities. At the Plaza, a rally to remember the victims of gun violence; specifically, the 17 people killed in Parkland Florida. Just 30 minutes away, the KCI Expo Center hosted a gun show.

Educators Offered Perspective On High Stakes Amid Increasing Culture War

KC teacher: 'The day I'm ordered to carry a gun may be my last day'

A Facebook post from a local teacher that said the Florida shooting had her so on edge she was actually considering ending her 35-year career in education had us wondering how many other teachers are having that kind of internal crisis.

Sadly, nothing was resolved as the debate continues with little impact on policy despite outcry from 2nd Amendment proponents vs. Gun Rights critics who remain forever deadlocked.

And all of this inspires our playlist for tonight . . .

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday Night . . .

  1. I'd say the conflict is minimal.

Just a small pocket of resistance.

Look at the statewide and presidential voting. The electorate in Misosuri & Kansas LOVE their guns and elect officials who share their values.

That is simply a fact. KC might be an outlier but that doesn't change the overwhelming opinions of most voters.

    2. I am trying to see this issue from the perspective of those favoring gun control. My ability to do so is limited because I have never sucked cock like they do.

  2. Gun free zones are the biggest danger to students, teachers and parents. All they do is create targets. We need to encourage more responsible and law abiding gun owners to counteract the killers.

    ReplyDelete
  3. The vast majority of the guns used in the 150 murders in KCMO last year were either stolen or otherwise illegally obtained.
Enforcing current laws would be a good start.
So would flooding high crime parts of the city with more cops and stop an frisk.
Continuing to make believe that pretty much everything other than the actual problem is the cause of gun violence in the city is delusional and a complete waste of time.
Except for the people with so much time on their hands that they're out marching and protesting pretty much every day.
You know who the thugs and bangers are.
    Round them up!

  6. Gun control and guns themselves are not the issue here. Lack of mental health care and dealing with those who have mental conditions is the issue. Even the FBI knew this clown in Florida was someone who an intervention was needed on but nothing was done. If anything other than the total ignoring of the accused shooter had taken place these 17 people might be alive today.

  7. Well we already do a pitiful job of enforcing laws of any kind in Kansas City. I would oppose any gun law that restricts the freedom of law abiding people to protect themselves, since the police are incapable or unwilling to offer any protection at all.

  9. There's not really any debate. Most Americans support some modest gun control to restrict these weapons. Then there's the Russian bot crowd trying to pretend this issue has two sides. It doesn't.

  10. It never fails how many liberal snowflakes want to blame a device for doing something bad that takes a human being to operate it. These same snowflakes have no problem seeing that 100's of babies are killed each week at abortion clinics. Anyone who randomly kills a group of people isn't thinking with a sane mind no matter if they have been planning for a year to do so. A person who can't see the rational of these shooters being sick isn't capable of logical thinking either.

  11. What the hell does "mental health" mean?

Who is going to judge that? When is someone cured once labeled as ill?

Are you going to start locking up people for excising their 1st amendment rights online? Jail people for a crime they haven't committed? How does that work in a free society?

The 2nd amendment people are right about one thing. Violent people will commit acts of violence. The question is are they going to do it with a knife or a military grade weapon? Will they kill a couple of people or 50+?

It's time to ban assault weapons (again).

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't agree with your conclusion, but I agree that the efficiency of "assault weapons" increases the body count of these incidents.

  12. We've got seatbelt laws, helmet laws, Driver's License laws, insurance laws, vehicle use laws, and road rules laws that are intended to establish drivers' REQUIRED BY LAW RESPONSIBILITIES, in efforts to maintain safety for all who are upon and traveling private and public roads, and interstate highways.

BUT, ALL THOSE LAWS CANNOT PREVENT THE INTENTIONAL, NOR UNINTENDED DISREGARD FOR LAWS FROM THE ACTIONS OF IMPAIRED AND IDJIT DRIVERS WHO ARE DRUNK--DRUGGED--DISTRACTED--DAREDEVILISH SPEEDFREAKS--DOOFUSLY UNSKILLED--OR, ROAD RAGE ROTTEN!!!

So, see how the LOGICAL and LEGAL argument goes on VEHICLES as it does for GUNS.

OPERATORS of both VEHICLES and GUNS are the ISSUE. When a NUTSO has a bad driving record for whatever reason, CONSEQUENCES like fines, jail, keeping attorneys rich, hikes to insurance costs, etc. WOULD IDEALLY MAKE THE GOOF LEARN LESSONS AND DO BETTER.

And, if a NUTJOB is known to be violent or has publicly threatened same, CONSEQUENCES like MEN IN BLACK VISITS, a NO FLY/NO BUY ALERT, and GOOD FAM/BUDS TRY THE GET HELP WE LUV U MAN CONVO!

  13. How is banning something going to stop something 10:38? People are banned from making homemade bombs but they do it every year. People are banned from drinking and driving but it is done every hour of every day killing more than 10,000 lives per year but booze can be bought everywhere. That's an avg of 27 people per day who die and nobody has their panties in a twist about that. Let's ban Liquor!

Hell no let's take law abiding peoples right to own something away because other people fail to address people that need to be. We need to discuss the failure of the FBI not the second amendment and a persons right to own a gun.

  14. Words of Wisdom.2/17/18, 11:06 PM

The calls for gun bans, stiffer background checks and “reasonable gun control” started being broadcast in nanoseconds following the news of this terrible slaughter. None of which would have made any difference in this case, or in any of the other well-known cases in recent years. Emotions run high, and public officials run their mouths for political gain, but you can’t legislate evil away with good intentions. It is already illegal to shoot people, and Heavens to Betsy you can’t take guns into a gun free zone…why you’d get in extra trouble!

Passing a few laws is not going to stop crazy people from being crazy people, or preventing them from having evil schemes. They need human interaction, not legislation.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Your argument is invalid Russian bot. We are going to try the legislation route now. Then we’ll know for sure.

  16. Voice of Reason2/17/18, 11:15 PM

If we are going to stop future shootings, we must address the mental health side of the issue, not just “Ban guns.” None of the politicians are willing to talk about the mental health issues contributing to every one of these mass shootings. There are between 5 and 10 million AR-15’s owned by law abiding citizens that were not used in any school shootings yesterday. You can’t get them outlawed for the wrong reasons without trammeling Constitutional Rights. Claims “If it saves just one life” fall flat coming from liberals who refuse to address the high violence and murder rate from illegal aliens. Shouldn’t the “If it saves just one life “argument apply across the board?

  21. There is no constitutional right to bear arms for civilians.

The 2nd amendment specifically states it's for the purpose of a "well regulated militia". The right extends with a stipulation, not a guarantee.

  22. People smarter than you said you're wrong! Try again.

  23. More guns = more killing. Period.

As conceal carry, open carry, unlicensed carry has expanded; we see more road rage shooting, more mall shooting, more school shootings, etc.

It's a false sense of security.

The cops are so paranoid, they shoot an unarmed gamer in Wichita via prank. They shoot a kid in OP who was distressed and need of counseling in his driveway. Independence police shot a "good guy with a gun" when he thought a robber had threatened his family in a Dollar General parking lot.

I'm not even sure cops should have guns at this point.

    ReplyDelete
  24. This isn't about rights.

This is about a powerful special interest group that lobby (bribes) politicians on behalf of businesses that make weapons.

The NRA doesn't give 2 shits about this country or the Constitution. Only money. Theirs and the big companies they represent.

Everything else is a deflection. There is no reason or logic in arguing for the status quo that has made America number 1 by far in the numbers of children killed unnecessarily. The reckless terrifying violence of mass shootings has to stop.

The one thing all mass shooting have in common is not mental health issues, criminal behavior, terrorism, or domestic violence. It's guns. You can't have mass shootings without guns.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Koolaid kid^^^ The NRA represents its members. Members! Educate yourself snowflake.

So you can sleep well, all 50 + weapons I own behaved today, as they have for the 45 plus years I have owned them, my Grandparents before that etc.

You and your worthless generation sit there and act like you want communism/socialism while hating the capitalist society and all they've accomplished. I'd have an inch of respect for you and the rest of the antifa assholes if you'd just come out and admit you're losers and can't make it in society. No career aspirations, no creating anything just wanting to live off everyone else. That includes mom and dad who actually contribute to society. All your lives you were misinformed by t.v. and media saying you're special and there's only one you and all this other bullshit. Jez, most of the millennials I work with can't even change a tire. Most of us "geezers" look at this country and you in the future as a neighbourhood going bad now. Good luck to you, might I suggest you all learn to speak mandarin or any of the Indian languages. Might I suggest you take up your bitching about climate change with China. They're the largest contributors to the world's pollution. You're a loser at life and think It's cool to lash out at people who actually made something of ourselves. Go back to your pussy craft beers and telling everyone how smart you and your generation are. We're sure as hell not seeing it.
