ReplyDeleteI say this as a Gun Owner and lifelong Hunter who sees no purpose in anyone owning a "Semiautomatic" firearm at all, but recognizing that others have that right.
And to all of you who try to use the "Corporate" rather than the"Individual" interpretation of the 2nd Amendment BALDERDASH!
Other writings of the framers make it clear that this is intended to be an "Individual" Right, just as the phrase "of the People" is used in other instances in the Constitution. Those writings also make it clear that the meaning of the word "Militia" refers to the Citizenry not part of the Organized Military.
When the States formed Organized and Trained Military Forces later, they were "Militias" when formed, but lost that standing (although retaining the name) when they were made permanent bodies.
One can make the Constitutional Argument that the ONLY Citizens Not Guaranteed the "Right To Keep And Bear Arms" are those currently serving in the Armed Forces, National Guard, or "State Militias"!
