TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! SURVEY SEYZ: HIPSTER KANSAS CITY REAL ESTATE CONFRONTS 2018 'PEAK MILLENNIAL' CRASH!!!
Sordid real estate speculators work tirelessly to convince Kansas City residents that urban core growth is powered by an endless supply of millennials with money to burn and no real knowledge of value beyond trends manufactured by fake news.
Here's the quintessential example of big media working to create a local demand powered by the fantasies of the local political elite:
New York Times: Millennials Going to Kansas City, to Live and Work
Sadly, oo many ensuing headlines, development pipe-dreams and questionable cash subsidy followed that report . . .
And now, in the Winter of our discontent after KCMO copes with the highest murder count this town has seen in a generation . . . Reality is starting to emerge beyond speculator hype.
To wit . . .
THANKS TO OUR KICK-ASS BLOG COMMUNITY WE'RE SHARING NEWS-MAKER SURVEY DATA EXPOSING THE KANSAS CITY MILLENNIAL REAL ESTATE MYTH!!!
Over the past few weeks, we've noticed that local media has been offering some coverage on this data in piecemeal fashion without giving readers the full scope of the report.
Accordingly . . .
INTERCEPTED BY BAD-ASS TKC TIPSTERS: CHECK THE KANSAS CITY HIGHLINE MILLENNIAL SURVEY!!!
Lots of good stuff in that link but here are some of the highlights worth a mention without the newsie "context" that attempt to spin data in hopes of propagating the "greater fool theory" and bring some poor sap downtown armed with nothing but a high-interest loans and dreams of the urban good life.
To be fair, this report still suggests some opportunity but based on offering Downtown denizens real value beyond coffeehouse or promo blog hype.
Check it . . .
- 5 years from now, the majority of KC Millennials want to live somewhere other than downtown.
- 63% make more than $51,000.
- 90% own a car.
- 74% want to buy, not rent their next place.
- Millennial Top Renting Concerns: Covered parking. Washers and dryers in units. High speed internet.
Accordingly, perspective on this topic from KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS FIRST before any other comment . . .
"To me, this survey reveals that we might have already reached PEAK MILLENNIAL in downtown KCMO. Given the unrelenting pace to build more rental units inside the loop and in Midtown: Are we headed for a big crash?"
You decide . . .
There are still some great places downtown and in Midtown. But yeah, a lot of what they're building is just straight up junk.
ReplyDeleteGood info, nice to see where the news gets their news from.
it's a renters game. What this survey doesn't show us is how many people are getting priced out of midtown because of rising rents and poor service. That is the real story that a lot of us are dealing with now. That is why we need housing reform in KCmo.
DeleteTook this survey, told them that KC needs more hot and sexy baristas.
Delete^^^ Good man.
DeleteRich people will dump money into condos and never live there.
ReplyDeletesirens just went off. That means it's time for all of the Crossroads hipsters to protest whatever they're reading the Twitters.
ReplyDeleteThe whole of the American luxury housing market is just based off Chinese investment. They're going to bring us down by giving enough rope for us to hang ourselves.
ReplyDelete+yuan
DeleteWhat if they build this and nobody came. Maybe they could turn those new vacant apt. buildings into a hotel. If the new tax plan plays out like Reagan's, Bush's and Brownback's tax plans in about 3-4 years that's what they'll be. Of course the world could be nuked by then and nothing will matter.
ReplyDeleteGirl in the photo needs to go to the gym.
ReplyDeleteI would take a shot of that red bush.
DeleteOh no, oh no oh no oh no. Kick-ass TKC insiders dishing this dirt. My God! BIG deal. TKC insiders=made up shit by Tony to churn the troll bait.
ReplyDelete^^^^^^
ReplyDeleteYou mean kinda like you? You must me related to Byron????
MOVE ON
More millennials...less geezers!
ReplyDeleteohhhh great, here comes another AIDS outbreak!!!
DeleteHey 11:35AM-This is a free-speech zone. Don't like it? You MOVE ON! You must be retarded. Are you? But if you are, would you really even know you were??????
ReplyDeleteBut the streetcar extension to the Plaza will bring 25 million more renters.
ReplyDeleteBut the Depends shipments will bring more diapers for the pants-shitters, so we are good!
ReplyDelete11:02 - "That is why we need housing reform in KCmo." Specifically what kinds of reform do you suggest that will cure "rising rents and poor service?"
ReplyDeleteAll these hip, millennial roosts are built over OLD, very old infrastructure. Broken sewer and water lines, busted up streets, power lines cobbled together with spit and chewing gum. Oh, and how about those ancient elevators in the high rises? Developers gloss over these problems by diverting the attention to the new and shiny granite countertops in the pretty pictures. This will get old really fast.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of getting old....the poster at 11:45 a.m. is going off on "geezers" again. Unless you've got a time machine, you will also be a geezer someday.
probably not, some scorned gay lover of his will slit his throat in a meth fueled binge.
DeleteIt is the fervent wish of all of us "Geezers" that the poster at 11:45 never becomes a "Geezer" himself/herself - in fact, the best possible outcome would be if he or she did not become even one day older than they are now.
ReplyDeleteHint to Millennials - look to the North.
ReplyDeleteHint to ANYBODY with any common sense and any interest in a successful investment in residential real estate and a safe quality place to live.
ReplyDeleteLook to the somewhat southwest.
West of the state live, for sure.
We've reached PEAK AMERICA. Even hipsters can't save us, as much as they like to think they can.
ReplyDeleteWoodside Village was a massive success and a real shangri-la for local upscale millennials making the scene.
ReplyDeleteI hear tell that they've even got the black mold under control and will be to move back in by springtime.
able to move
ReplyDeleteMillennials need to check out KC Land Bank and see if the $1.00 homes are still being offered.
ReplyDeleteNobody wants to be a geezer. They suck as human beings. They are awful, stupid, racist people. Not everybody becomes a geezer. Good people are good people no matter what age. Everybody on here is a geezer. That's the difference.
ReplyDelete"Everybody on here is a geezer."
ReplyDeleteUmmmmm. YOU'RE on here, so you must be one of those who "suck as human beings [and] are awful, stupid, racist people."
^^^Jesus Christ dummy, that whole "YOU'RE on here too!" routine is getting as stale as your diaper geezer.
ReplyDeleteWhen you get to "geezer age" this geezer will still be around to shove a triple syringe of Morphine into your sorry ass. And laugh while doing it.
ReplyDeleteI might even shit my Depends laughing while you are fading away.
It's marketing they have millions invested in downtown. And they need to con. You into moving downtown. Many people that I have spoken to that visit the crossroads. Live in the suburbs or small towns and they work downtown. And have a bite to eat before they drive home. And many visit from small town. A affluent GENTLEMAN once said why live downtown when you can drive there.
ReplyDeleteHow many people have you killed so far, @3:53 pm?
ReplyDeleteMost millennials live on mom and dads credit cards. They can't afford toilet paper.
ReplyDeleteMillennials are like hoodrats. Worthless trash.
Most people just want loose shoes, a tight pussy and a warm place to shit.
ReplyDeleteCan't argue that^^^
ReplyDelete^^^^ LOL ^^^^ He is not smart enough to pay rent. So he can't move.
ReplyDeleteTop millennial renting concern is not covered parking, washers or high speed internet. Their top concern is close proximity to a huge supply of cock to suck.
ReplyDeleteFun stuff. I vote for more cowbell and hot baristas.
ReplyDeleteToo many new apartments increases the cost of all of them. It's a damn shame that we don't have any leadership in KC when it comes to housing.
ReplyDeleteToo many geezers fuck up the country. They stink of shit, can’t follow directions, and are some of the dumbest people you’ve ever met.
ReplyDeleteAngry, angry on this thread.
ReplyDeleteGood shiz.
Me likes.
Hipsters and millennials are worthless
ReplyDeleteHey, I heard Country Club Jay was crying about this post because nobody reads his blog.
ReplyDeleteSorry bitch.
Greedo. You are a bad man. Don't be a jerk.
DeleteWe all have something to contribute!
Blogs are awesome. They're the best place to get news!
This is important information if only because I've seen too much hype surrounding the Downtown real estate market. Hoping that in 2018 we can ratchet it down just a bit and make for a more solid base for new KC residents.
ReplyDeleteThis is good news. Makes my nipples HARD!
ReplyDelete^^^ Take your meds.
ReplyDeleteLiked the info.
Irrational exuberance in Kansas City condo market.
OF COURSE!
Buy a house in a good neighborhood and try your best to be a good person.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't be a bitch.
Whether it's downtown or the burbs. Everybody can improve their community by simply trying to do their best and help where they can.
It's not so hard. Try it!
63% make more than 51K, I call BS.
ReplyDeleteUnless that 63% work for mom and dads company.
You know, I turn to Tony's KC instead of any other news source anymore to get the clearest picture of what's going on. Thank you.
