Lawsuit alleges girl was raped by boy in Olathe school bathroom

A federal lawsuit alleges that a 12-year-old Kansas girl was raped by a boy in a school bathroom after a teacher failed to supervise their return to a classroom. The girl's mother filed suit Thursday against Olathe Public Schools, the school board and the student who allegedly assaulted her daughter, The Kansas City Star reported.

U.S. Marshals, KCK Police arrest 8 in Friday operation

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - A joint operation Friday by the U.S. Marshals and Kansas City, Kan. Police took several suspects into custody and a trove of guns, cash and drugs off the streets. Kansas City, Kan. Police Chief Terry Zeigler tweeted late Friday that his officers assisted the US Marshal's Service in an operation that started around 3:30 p.m.


Keeping Convicts Out Of Jail

KC to get $500,000 for medications for people returning from prison

People coming back to Kansas City after being discharged from prison will get a 90-day supply of prescription medications instead of a 30-day supply under a grant-funded program announced Friday. The program is called "Healthy Transitions" and it started in St. Louis last year.
