SPECIAL REPORT: KANSAS CITY CONFRONTS OPPOSITION IN SECURING SOFT TARGETS!!!

In the aftermath of the deadliest shooting in modern U.S. History, locals would like to think that providing more security for party people is a simple proposition. Sadly, that's not the case.

Two important examples in the hurry to address the widespread soft target dilemma  . . .

The P&L District has been embroiled in an ongoing battle to protect their patrons but complaints over discriminatory tactics and unfair practices have dogged the downtown party place.

KCUR: Appeals Court Reinstates Racial Discrimination Claim Against Kansas City Power & Light Operator

Similarly and probably much worse . . .

Westport confronts political betrayal and MSM opposition regarding alleged hip-hop upper-class discrimination in their desperate effort to privatize streets and improve security.

Sadly, Westport is forced to plead on Twitter for a policy change in the 4th District . . .

Like it or not, in the aftermath of the deadly Las Vegas mass shooting, Kansas City is still forced to play identity politics when it comes to providing security for crowds.

In the midst of the culture war, mass shootings and the longstanding local legacy of segregation and discrimination -- Local nightlife biz people contend that their main concern is simply facilitating a safe and good time for all of Kansas City's diverse communities . . . Like these beautiful strangers and their random iconic hookup:

P&L district is pretty well insulated from sniper fire. They had some problems with the CBE but that was dealt with by cutting out the school night jams unbeknownst to most people.

As for the future of big outdoor concerts? I think we'll see lower attendance until the next horrible event. Hopefully, we can avoid any more like this.

The best thing that can happen to Westport is to keep pushing ahead with the development of high end housing. Make it upscale, make it like the Plaza.

Yes, a few more old buildings will have to go but it's a small price to pay so that shootings every other weekend don't ruin the place.

Stop the violence, NO MORE COUNTRY MUSIC!

Real KC said...

Today's Westport doesn't have much in common with the heyday of the place. It's a lot more generic now and there are rarely any celebrities who stop by and visit.

It's a glorified shopping mall with booze. That's all.

Anonymous said...

C'mon man tell it like it is- it's a goddamn jigg-pit and there enlys the problem period.

Ha Ha Ha the plaza isn't upscale anymore. That's funny!

"Better Gun Control"? What is better gun control? Every liberal in America is yelling gun control.

All mouth and no brains.

If a bad guy or girl wants a gun they'll get it.

Question? How many niggas buy a gun at a gun store and then go out and shoot another nigga. How many MS13 spicks do the same?

Answer: NONE

Not really sure that privatizing the streets in Westport will make a difference. The area is too far gone. They would be better off getting rid of some of the bars that attract dangerous crowds and stop blocking the streets. That will thin the crowds. After vegas, the era of the public crowd is over.

Why in God's name is it legal for gun shops to sell bump stocks?? It's fucking ridiculous. Im a gun owner I have no problem with guns,to a certain extent.. yeah yeah I'm sure they would be fun to shoot. But they need to be fucking outlawed .boo fuckin hoo . Human beings trump gun enthusiasts having a good time, every time!! Christ this country has its problems

When is the NRA going to push Congress to allow us citizens to own RPGs? Or better yet, mortars. These weapons don't kill people; only people kill people, right?

Close the Bars in the P&L, Crossroads, Westport and the Plaza at midnight, keep the bars in the 18th & Vine District open till 3:30 a.m. and the entire problem will solve itself in about a year.

Why the fuck should the tax payers be out to provide iron clad security for a bunch of drunk brats? Fuck that! Get a job and hire a bodyguard.

Anonymous said...

Right

Anonymous said...

I agree with 10:49 a.m. poster - move the party to 18th & Vine after midnight. And, for God's sake, do NOT have any police presence in the area. I can only imagine the cries of racism and police brutality if the popo makes an appearance. If we let the party-goers sort things out with guns, I think the problem will eventually take care of itself.

I don't think the Las Vegas people have disclosed exactly what was on this guy's hotel room yet. Having listened to the video and having played with a bumper stock required ar in the past, I really don't think this guy was using a bump stock.

Unfortunately, politics will probably preventing us from learning the details.

9:51 you can but it’ll cost you an arm and a leg to get the license and then buy that stuff, in other words youll never be a ble to afford it

Anonymous said...

You certainly may be True Dat,unfortunately as fuck

Anonymous said...

@12:22 - Could you please point me in the direction (web address or whatever) to where I can find applications for mortars? I seriously want one, and I can scrimp on other things to save up for it.

But why do I have to have a license in the first place when these types of arms are protected by the 2nd amendment?

Mass shootings are described as 3 or more persons killed in one shooting incident, there have been 634 people killed in the U.S. by “mass shootings” in 35 years or since 1982 for an average of 18 deaths per year. Believe it or not the U.S. is 7th in the world for these types of shootings. Just throwing that out there

12:38 Go to your local gun shop

Anonymous said...

What gun shop sells mortars? Where the fuck do you live, Pakistan?

Byron Funkhouser said...

12:50, your statistics are way wrong. There has been 273 mass murders so far this year.

All of the shooter's nearly 50 weapons were legally bought, & legally owned.

I saw a report that said the shooter's "note" could be seen in this photo, though there has been no mention of a suicide note, or manifesto by the authorities.

His acquaintances said he liked country music.

There is no defense against the NRA's deliberate misreading of the Second Amendment, & all of the "security" at this concert, & every concert I've ever been to, was mostly to prevent people from smoking marijuana, & did not, nor could, protect the people from an angry white man with a gun.

This is the new normal. Building a wall on our southern border, & banning Muslim immigrants & refugees will not keep us safe from ourselves.

Congrats NRA supporters and various other gun-stroking shitheels... you've won the debate.

A fully armed to the gills populace is what you envisioned this country's founding fathers wanted for this country, and it's what we've got.

Just please spare me any crocodile tears and "thoughts and prayers" that you feign to have after these shootings ... this is what you wanted the US to be, and you've won the battle that has turned the country into a horror show.

Byron, your wrong again, where does your blind ass find these things? Chicago routinely has more murders per year than all mass murders combined since 82, again you prove your stupidity daily, just stick to your w Virginia crazy people forum and leave us alone

Anonymous said...

bLIEron, your talking about shootings alone that involve three or more shot not mass murders you dumb ass, get your facts straight. Chicago alone probably has 270 of them

It's nice to know that when I am shot & killed, Bill will believe me to a patriotic martyr dying for the Second Amendment. Only 20 percent of the population owns guns, but we are being terrorized nearly every day by this insane, but wealthy & powerful industry. We have repealed amendments before, & this one has outlived its intended relevancy. "... a well regulated militia, being necessary ...", & yet we no longer have militias, which by definition of the word necessary, means they weren't necessary. Some of us make it a point to learn about other countries & how they do things, so it is harder for us to pretend that we know something that no one else does. That our way of doing things is magically the best, simply because it is our way. So, we know how to stop gun violence, we know how to provide health care & we know how to educate our children. Stop living in the "God Bless America" bubble & wake up. This mass shooting IS NOT the "Cost of Freedom", it is the result of fascism.

Don't ban guns ban Violent movies and TV they are the real culprit. Glorifying violence for violence sake.

bLIEron, how are you gonna get shot on the 9th floor of your apartment building? You know, the one with the American flag that flies out front, did you protest that too?

Jerky, er, Jimmy Kimmel's a yuuuuge hypocrite for crybabying about guns being too easily available. He recently increased his armed security for himself and at his studio. Yep, that's why he's called a limousine liberal. Rules for the peasants are not applied to the "pretty & priveleged".
