  5. It's never a day to celebrate when silliness, fads, and outright stupidity somehow prevail over common sense, historical context, and decency.
    And how does that happen?
    Cowardice.
Of which there is way more than enough among the local "leadership" to go around.

  6. Thank God for the Sickle Cell8/25/17, 6:44 AM

Considering 99.9 pct of the offended shit birds had no idea the monument was there, the removal should cure racism and soothe the fear of a return of Quantrills raiders returning to burn and pillage.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled black on everybody murder, rape and robbery epidemic.

  8. There! Now racism is cured. Welcome to post racial America. Sleep tight.

  9. 8:06 - nah, still plenty of racism to go around, just not celebrating it via Memorial. Heard you can read about that shit in a book though.

    1. What a meaningful gesture! Why, a week ago no one remembered this monument! Now, thanks to our vocal comrades, this virtually unknown piece of stone will menace no more innocent blacks!

Comrades, all hail our empty gesture! It prevents us from having to engage real problems.

  10. I've been cutting out U.S. Grant and Andrew Jackson from my money to celebrate this great occasion.

  11. They are removing the N word from many classic books, many worry the literary elements of the pieces would be lost by omitting the word. A solution that's been thrown out there is to have the classics rewritten in the perspective of urban youth, that would solve the issue and probably have copious use of the word making it appealing for young readers.

  12. thats funny right there!

  13. Probably some input from that high tax paying neighborhood to get this "target" outta there. Better not to have an attractive nuisance that draws in lowlifes who'll probably vandalize with paint again, or maybe take drive-by shots at it.

  14. Wait! Lots of union troops didn't want to fight to end slavery. And Lincoln never considered blacks to be equal.

Gosh, so much complexity! So much tearing down to do!!

  15. Thank you to everyone who made this removal of confederate glorification possible.

  17. It wasn't a menace to blacks, just some gay white dude from prairie village. It made his wittle tummy hurt whenever he drove by it

  18. How come the Kansas City Atheist Coalition is not involved in this?

Its just the type of shit they could pump up for publicity.

    The Josh's are slipping!!! LOL!

  19. I still find it amazing that a handful of people, most of which don't live here can complain about something and get it removed. I thought since the 440,000 thousand or so people that live in this city and who pay taxes should at least have some say but we apparently don't matter and are outnumbered by the 24 million visitor opinions. Let's face it, sLIE is more concerned about what the outsiders opinions of this city are than what the actual residents think. No wonder this city has gone to hell

  20. With all of the bridges, guardrails, and signs in such great shape around the metro, these workers need something to do. Stay frosty!

  21. ^^You are welcome!!!!!

  22. I'm surprised that the antifa isis crowd wasn't there causing trouble during the removal, but then again they probably are going to follow the monument to storage so they can blow it up later. I wouldnt be surprised one bit

  23. Hopefully this Confederate Monuments story will become as relevant as the Transgender Bathroom story. Then we can move on to the next great headline that has zero impact on public safety or personal wellbeing.

  24. Byron Funkhouser8/25/17, 2:29 PM

There are almost no statues of General Longstreet because he wasn't a white supremacist. This is how you can tell that these statues are about white supremacy & not about Southern Heritage.

  30. It would almost be worth it if they would remove 18th and Vine, but the idea that these boons those a baby tantrum, get their was and the white folks still have to reach into their pocket for the blacks to have their own protected drunk district is a fucking crime.

  31. Der Funkhouser is repeating CNN's story about Longstreet. Next he'll be regurgitating a story from The Nation.

  32. Just make sure the Black Veterans Memorial is the next to go since black veterans did fight FOR the confederacy in the war of northern aggression.
