Kansas City Airport Eclipse Traffic Jam

Posting this perspective in fairness and because the "convenience" is really for Kansas City denizens dumping travelers into the airport system that's screwed up across the nation . . .

The "Convenient" Airport

It is like this every week......no place to sit, people on top of each other. Delta Terminal B. I wonder if the anti-airport crowd ever sets foot in their beloved airport.

  1. since the next total eclipse for kansas city is 2205, we have time to build a new airport without feeling rushed.

is this talking point from the cronies?

  2. Move Southwest and Delta into different terminals and problem solved, short of $2 Billion!

  3. Most frequent flyers, the smart ones, wouldn't have been flying at eclipse time. Therefore, the group cited are not likely the real frequent flyer types.

  4. The powers that be are engineering crowding and inconvenience to create demand for a new airport.

Lots if people would get a share of lots of money.

Meantime, evolutionary changes and maintenance are being avoided on purpose.

    1. I fly out of that idiotic airport once a week. That picture is a perfect example of what I see every week. Even at SWA, where the terminal has been widened, the horseshoe still does not accomodate the crowd.

  5. I fly twice a year, typically at high-volume times (i.e. seasonal vacations). I've never seen it crowded like that other than taking a picture with little depth to it so that doesn't indicate the relative space between the people "front to back" rather than lateral.

    1. Further truth that KCI fanboys don't fly.

  6. Are you expecting reasonable thinking out of the commenters on this blog? Tracy care to chime in?

  7. you? FAIR? I didn't even think you knew what the concept was.

  8. urrm...which airport ISN'T crowded around flight times?

    pointless article

  9. Close one terminal and crowd everyone into the others. Thus demonstrating the need for new construction. Totally bogus.

  10. Never had to deal with a crowd like this. The new airport herd must love being miserable.

  11. Post at 3:22 p.m. hit the nail on the head. Move our two busiest airlines to separate terminals and give them room to spread out. Simple and easy to do. CITY HALL? Are you listening?

  12. Face it, SWA and Delta were PURPOSEFULLY relocated next to each other in Terminal B to increase crowding, maintenance requirements (which aren't being handled), and parking difficulties. The fact that, by and large, they got away with it with very little protest from users proves just how oblivious most metro residents are.

The solution is simple. Place Terminal A back into service and relocate SWA there, spend a fraction of the $2B on deferred maintenance for all three terminals, and if centralized security is really a must, build two centralized portals between A & B and B & C. Take a look at the Crawford plan, it can all be accomplished for half the cost of a new facility.

  13. why don't they just GIVE terminal A to southwest.
    Let them own it.
They can do anything they want with it for free.
    They would probably be successful.

  14. Save KCI!

    Make it great again!

  15. This isn't about the need for a new terminal, it's about a contract for Burns & Mac, and a no show job for Sly when his term ends!!

  16. Who cares? If you claim to care about the airport, you're a liar. If you don't like the city, the airport, the mayor, the crime then move. Pure and simple. Move the fuck out and don't look back. You little bitches who cry about every airport post annoy the fuck out of me. You're a bunch of gnats on shit. You are so insignificant to the city you don't see that you don't matter!

  17. The airport is already convenient but there are a few things that would make it better. Enlarge the baggage claim areas and improve the frequency of the parking lot buses. Those things will bring lots of bang for the buck.

  18. Easy to tell this photo was shot through a "Fish Eye" lens, notice how it seems to straighten out the curve of the Terminal wall. This was obviously done in order to "bunch up" a normal departure crowd.

Congratulations Tony, you seem to have discovered one of the exceedingly rare and hard to (honestly) find examples of "Fake News"!

You deserve some sore of Presidential Commendation for finding this, since the entire GOP, the White House Staff, Breitbart "News", and the other assorted Right Wingnuts have been desperately and fruitlessly searching for a single instance of this for over a year!
