TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY MAYORAL RACE HEATS UP WITH LATEST CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORT!!!

The contest for Kansas City Mayor is already underway given that election and reelection fundraising behind the scenes now dominates every City Council decision.

To wit . . .

HERE'S THE FIRST LOOK AT THE BIG MONEY NUMBERS FOR KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CONTENDERS COMPETING FOR CASH THIS SUMMER!!!

Yes, 2019 might seem far away but remember that every election in Kansas City is decided long before a single vote is cast. The early money game determines the tone of the contest far better than all of the lame polling and endorsements that will follow.

Like it or not, the fundraising fight totals are the only objective measure of influence and support.

Check this list FIRST on TKC . . .

6th District At-Large Councilman

Money On Hand - $353,394.81

A litany of $500 donations from power players throughout the metro comprise the bulk of his support.

RIGHT NOW COUNCILMAN SCOTT TAYLOR LEADS THE CASH CONTEST BY A HUGE MARGIN!!!

Conservative polling data has been working diligently against this politico because of his many Democratic Party connections including his former Council Lady wife who led the local Hillary team. However, there's no denying that he keeps piling up money while his detractors bristle.

Next up . . .

3rd District Councilman Jermaine Reed:

Money On Hand - $49,084.00

The bulk of this money came from a 30k transfer from Reed For City Council Committee. Still, this is a good first showing for the urban core Councilman who targeted Prez Trump in his debut campaign commercials.

And then . . .

Mayor Pro-Tem And 1st District At-Large Councilman Scott Wagner

Money on Hand - $28,655.04

Unions & PAC money comprise most of his donations for now. The low cash total might concern some of his strident supporters and cause lament for many locals who believe that the next Mayor should represent that rapidly growing Northland.

Accordingly . . .

WHO DO YOU THINK LEADS THE EARLY KANSAS CITY MAYORAL CONTEST?!?!

And while we're just starting the silly season, the perceptions of these candidates will determine the reality of the next KCMO Mayoral election and will certainly inspire other contenders to join the race.

  1. All of these officials voted to exclude voters from having their day on the Downtown hotel. None of them deserve to serve as mayor. We're better off that they're no longer going to be members of council.

    2. I'm going to say it.

I don't care that you broke your arm and I would take Sly James for a 3rd term over any of the options that have currently declared their campaign for Mayor.

  2. So, you're telling me that we're looking at possibly 100 murders before August is finished and these guys are just going around getting campaign donations.

This is why more people need to vote.

  3. As soon as none of the above is announced, I'm in.

  4. Taylor is just a puppet for the Sly machine if you think Sly is bad Taylor is worse. Taylor did not get all that money for helping neighborhoods. Taylor is pay to play.

  5. Wagner has no chance.

  6. It would appear from this list that no matter who wins the losers will be the residents of Kansas City. Not an honest for the people person in the lot.

  9. A SURPRISE IS WAITING TO BE SPRUNG ON THE TAYLOR CAMPAIGN

If you don't cross your "t's" and dot your "i's" correctly, but operate sloppily, you deserve to be bounced from the race.

    All in due time.

  11. The largest municipality by far in the metro and with a population of 472,000 and this is the best KCMO can do for "leadership"?
    Hahahahahahaha!!!
How in the world can Reed raise almost $50K?
And any of these bozos will be confronted with the mess and debt Sly is leaving behind.
    Amateur night on the plains.

  15. The real question is who the chamber of commerce and Burns and Mac want to be mayor. Taylor thinks he's the business guy but he's probably too slick for them. Gotta find another dullard with a bow tie.

  16. KC's loss.

    Horrible line-up so far.

  17. At the end of the day it would be cheaper and more effective for the health of KCMO and its residents if you just paid these people to sit at home, watch television and play online, and promise not to have anything to do with what passes for city government in KCMO than to elect any of them to anything.
Or they could hang out in the big law firms or construction company offices where they could make coffee and copies and tell everyone how important they are.
    What's the murder count today?

  18. Jolie? Bullsh*t! If you think Kay Barnes screwed up this city's future by stuffing 25 years of tax revenue into the pockets of Johnson County Real Estate Developers, just wait till you see what Ms. Justice will do! At least Kay had a slight semblance of "class". Ms Justice could drive to the heart of any ghetto and give "Tude" Lessons! She needs to realize that special status in the L.G.B.T.Q.S.P.Q.R.L.S.M.F.T. Community does not exempt one from normal standards of civilized discourse.

  19. Three out of the four biggest worthless council people will of course promise to go better as Mayor.
