Kansas City Traffic Syncing Tech Price Tag Almost ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!

On the bright side, hobos who can crack the code should be able to profit by making drivers uncomfortable with the street side begging at nearly every stop:

Synchronizing traffic lights will reduce travel time, pollution along Broadway, officials say

The Kansas City Council voted to spend $900-thousand of Go Bond money for a system to coordinate all the stop lights along Broadway, from West Pennway to the River Market. "If you've ever driven, particularly rush hours, on Broadway, you know it's just stop and go," Councilmember Kathryn Shields.

  1. Seems like a lot of money to coordinate traffic lights. Little dubious on the basic infrastructure part too. I guess the goodies requests have started coming in.

  2. It's stop and go because so many homos live downtown. They like getting rear ended

  3. It's not always stop and go. Sometimes it's go and stop.

  5. Lets coordinate those lights. Then we can disrupt traffic flow with more check points. Your tax dollars at work. It does make you wonder what pet projects were happening in KC 40 years ago when other cities already had this legacy technology.

  7. God damn it. We voted to fix the roads. There was NEVER discussion adjusting traffic lights.

  8. They need to get the street parking off Broadway so there are two traffic lanes in each direction. The trolley has forced more cars to use Broadway instead of Main so those traffic lanes are needed.
