OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - A Kansas City, Kan. man will appear before a judge Monday, July 3, after officers conducting a traffic stop discovered homemade fireworks in the man's car. Johnson County prosecutors have charged Rolando Pla, 30, with one count of criminal use of explosives following the traffic stop early Monday morning in Overland Park.

An Overland Park man was seriously injured Sunday after falling from a Flyboard at the Lake of the Ozarks. Brian M. Effertz, 46, fell 10-12 feet and landed on top of a Seadoo, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. He was flown to University Hospital. The incident happened about 5:50 p.m.
